Why did they have about 15 minutes talking about nothing then basically showed the goals and that's it?!

Surley a waste of air time?

I'm still wondering why Claridge is at St. Mary's every other week... don't mind, I'm glad he's enjoying watching us :D

LOL@Adkin's interview.

Something about consistency........

They gave us a good showing. Compared to the usual anyway. It's nice being the golden boys.
Don't get me wrong, we were on for a good length of time but I'd rather see us playing then so many vox pops of fans

Made a nice change to get a bit of air time that was saints related. Also good to hear Claridges viewpoint of what he thinks is wrong with the sk8s and their current plight.

He didn't pull any punches talking about the skates did he? I think he's a closet saints fan you know............

Not southampton but that was some brave defending by the Burnley defender sticking his head in the way while laying on the ground. I'd be spitting bullets if I were a Cardiff fan that the Ipswich keeper stayed on the pitch after that challenge.

I loved the response to DB when asked if he has any sympathy for the blue few . Response was instant no . DBs face said it all what a stupid question to ask . League show as good re us. . Inside stadium looks good

Give him his due, considering he is a dyed in the wool sk8, he has been quite complimentary about our style of play and set up everytime I've seen him this season. He basically said that the fishy few were still working on a Prem team structure including wages, living way above their means and that god knows how many different people owned diffrent parts of the club, ground, car park etc etc....

Wise words, Nigel, wise words.

Quite enjoyed our segment to be fair. Showed the club in a good light and I like having a look behind the scenes. The vox pops were pants but then they always are. Less credit to the commentator of our highlights who claimed that it was Martin's second league goal of the season and for them failing to show Lallana's involvement in the build-up to his effort.

Ah well, that's what the 'All Angles' coverage on Saints Player is for.

Then you need to read the rules... the player is moving away from goal, therefore it is a yellow card.

CLaridge is a pompey fan - but one who is a proper football fan IMHO, so is probably sick to death of the way his club has been run, gained advantage, and then not learned from the mistakes - he said as much during the program. He is complementary of us when we play well enough to deserve it and critical when we dont - but seems almost envious (in a positive way) when looking at how we did all we could to rectify our financial wows in the right way, whereas pompey seemed to ignore the issue - think he mentions that tehy still ahve not paid anything from the last admin and went ahead spening on prem qulaity players - think he is very frustrated that he cant feel proud of them right now... and fair play to him for that. If more of their fans felt that way rather than whinging and moaning that its all someone else fault, that they need loans etc, then maybe they might have had some sympathy from me... as it is they can rot..

Away from goal? hardly....even Paul jewell reckoned that it should of probably been a red

I've just watched it again and the forwards touch took him wide out towards the touchline, so IMHO that's a yellow by the book, especially considering how far out the striker was. There was at least one defender who was covering.

Going by the natural reaction to a tackle from a keeper like that, I can see why Jewell was relieved, but I don't think from where the striker had poked the ball it was 'denying a clear goal scoring opportunity' (which I think is the rule) - it would have been an unbelievable finish from out there to score, given the covering players.

No he didnt he said he was right behind it. ie in the Kingsland press box, where he probably normally sits when he doesn't have to pay

Press box is in the Itchen I think you mean. Its only the TV gantry in the Kingsland.

Well at least he's consistent...

Good segment I thought. Keeping up the record that all our highlights must start with an exterior shot of St Mary's!

Think the BBC are contractually limited on the number of games they can show extended highlights for so segments like that are all about turning the normal short highlights into a longer segment for the program. Pity really only covered for TV by the one camera as would have like to have seen Lee's goal from a different angle.

I quite like "Mr Personality" Steve Claridge...He maybe a Skate, but he's a very honest one. Very rare

But did he really say much that a lot of skates would now disagree with?

There are quite a few pompey fans still in complete denial and believeing all the balme is down to the Football League. There are a few who would agree with Claridge though im sure.

Has claridge got a season ticket he always seems to have just watched us

Not sure who has been to more games claridge or merrington

he is always at SMS....always pretty honest with what he says too

Much respect to Steve Claridge for his input throughout. Keeps saying nice things about Saints, brutally honest about the Pompey situation.

He probably closes his eyes and remembers the Glory Days of Pompey in the Prem,(Availble now in Blu Ray at all good Film stores Priced £299.99, running time 12 minutes)

Didn't actually mind the fact that we got so little game coverage. It was nice to get an inside view of the ground before and after, and even the vox pops were pretty good. This is very much the limelight slot of the show. Good to be in it.

That said, really looking forward to the SaintsPlayer coverage. This might be a FULL 90 job.

I keep telling everyone and nobody's listens. I reckon he is a closet Saints fan. He even went to watch us in the 86 semi against Liverpool at White Hart Lane.

I've been saying it for years.

I actually quite like it watching it back (although I did dislike the vox pops) but I'd spent all day looking forward to seeing some action from the game and had a shandy or two in me! ;)

I think I'll be watching the 90 mins on Saints Player!

Do you get closets in caravans?

I have no problem with Claridge, is very fair to Southampton, and often complimentary. Would rather listen to him any day than the muppets who are usually on MotD. He is at least a genuine footballer who carried on playing as long as he could because he loved it rather than for the money and taking the easy way out and retiring "early" to become a pundit like the Slug Balancer and Hanson.

How?

Downloaded Expat Shield - a VPN. Works like a treat - I can watch all BBC, Sky etc. online from an English IP and it doesn't have quite the bandwith problems of the various proxies...

Edit: make sure to get the English VPN. They also have a US version which is nice for other web services but obviously useless for BBC ;)

I liked our little segment last night, thought it was great. Brilliant to see the nice atmosphere at the club, everyone seems really positive and upbeat. Lol'd at Punch trying to get on camera 7 or 8 times... haha!

Agree about the Bompey leg break as well, made me wince when I watched it. Never nice to see anyone get seriously injured like that.

That Daniel Powell from MK Dons looks handy as well, good movement and finishing. If we didn't already have the plethora of strikers at the club that we do I would say we should get him on the bus...
