kwsaint Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 I wasn't there sadly but I was curious about how loud the stadium was even though it wasn't full. Yours thoughts?

Chez Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 very good atmosphere today even before we ran away with the game. The `who the **** is laughing now' song was very popular.
Dr Who? Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 Had a quiet spell 30 minutes to 45 and then until the second goal. Supporters were nervous I thought, but once the second went in it was fantastic.... Apart from the blinking who the f is laughing now song. supergoose Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 Great atmosphere today. Derby fans were sooooo quiet .... not that they had much to shout about.
dronskisaint Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 Great noise right from the start...still buzzing after a 4 hour drive home. All supportive noise is good...the WTF song is easy, infectious and perfect retribution for how it was sung at us by the multi-bankrupts from the pit! saints_is_the_south Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 Best atmosphere today for quite a while IMO, St Mary's was rocking right from the start. Well done all. On the contrary, Derby have to be to worst away fans in terms of singing that I've seen in ages.
gazzzza Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 Good atmosphere today, once 2nd goal went in loud & singing well. If Derby had brought a few more fans like in the play offs a few years ago we might have heard from them but today was all about Saints. Attendances should improve now with performances like that. Hemel Saint Posted 19 February, 2012 Share Posted 19 February, 2012 Turning Japanese by the Vapors after the game was inspired:rolleyes: Love the Vapors!! But am I the only one who hates to hear any Tannoy Music, when the stadium is rocking to the supporters noise! Sure, play music to drown out the away fans if the result goes against us. But not when the atmosphere after a victory is so good!
Barry the Badger Posted 19 February, 2012 Share Posted 19 February, 2012 I thought the atmosphere was the best for a while, very good.

John Boy Saint Posted 19 February, 2012 Share Posted 19 February, 2012 OWTS sung slowly now everyone has caught on creates a real atmosphere of Cathedral quality, sat in the Chapel you really notice it (as being absorbed in the exquisite play on the pitch we are a tad quieter down there). Actually there were moments in the second half when the whole stadium was totally absorbed in the play as you could almost hear a pin drop, thats not detrimental it's just a fact that so many of us have watched some real cr@p in recent years that so much of the play now is so good and just sucks you in. Back to the thread, when we scored the second the chorus of "We are top of the league!" was very loud. Whilst the Amarillo repost is getting some stick from some quarters it certainly created a fair bit of atmosphere, probably as its being sung with some feeling :-) I think people are beginning to believe, which in turn is ramping up the atmosphere each week. If we get to the point where our dreams are about to become reality someone better make arrangements to connect St Mary's to the Natioal Grid to power the South of England. Sour Mash Posted 19 February, 2012 Share Posted 19 February, 2012 Only thing that does annoy me is the ground being half empty by the final whistle. Why the f**k rush off after a performance like that?
latter day saint Posted 19 February, 2012 Share Posted 19 February, 2012 Only thing that does annoy me is the ground being half empty by the final whistle. Why the f**k rush off after a performance like that? does my head in that ! was reading a write up of the game from a Derby fan & he was couldnt understand why people were leaving early after a thumping win ? just seems c*ntish to the players to not stay & thank them
John Boy Saint Posted 19 February, 2012 Share Posted 19 February, 2012 Arsenal players asked the question a few years ago when they were still at Highbury and playing very well, "why do you leave before the final whistle? we are still there playing and we do notice you leaving early!!". 85 minute tickets when we are playing well always winds me up, especially when those who chose to leave fanny about in the process: still trumped yesterday when the bloke next door but one to me commented that Rickie should stop messing about and get hold of the ball in the last couple of minutes, like someone else said who heard him: "er what's the score!!". doddisalegend Posted 20 February, 2012 Share Posted 20 February, 2012 Only thing that does annoy me is the ground being half empty by the final whistle. Why the f**k rush off after a performance like that? I've noticed that people seem to leave early if we're losing or winning really well. It's like they figure the game is all sewed up so might as well get to the car early. Personally after a great performance like that I want to clap the players off. It's worth staying to the end just to see Jos and his demented thumbs up sign
dronskisaint Posted 20 February, 2012 Share Posted 20 February, 2012 But we were playing derby, makes us look like idiots keeping on about f...ing Pompey all the time. Other teams must think WTF. Understand what you're saying but actually the song doesn't even mention them...we know, they know...most fans sing along with it so there's a good swell of supportive sound. I don't actually give a sh*t if the other fans don't get it...it's not for them and you can't hear them thinking anyway
