Super_Uwe Posted 20 February, 2012 Share Posted 20 February, 2012 Remember it's been a tough year for him for obvious reasons and now he has to settle with a lot of expectations on his shoulders. The lad deserves plenty of time to get things sorted both physically and mentally . Exactamundo. My little lad was born three months ago and I can't imagine what it must have been like to lose your son so soon after being born. Fair play to the man, he's made the choice to move away from his family and try and make a fresh start. If there is any manager in the country who can get the best out of him it is NA, of that I have no doubt. Of course Saints can't be expected to give him unlimited time to settle in, but I am convinced he has the attributes to help us push towards promotion. Hope the Saints' WAGS are a good bunch, and make her feel welcome. What is Mrs. NA like ? !
Saint_clark Posted 20 February, 2012 Share Posted 20 February, 2012 how on earth do you equate that.......maybe he does not like being interviews on camera..? Maybe. I was simply making an observation. The title of the entire thread is a question - I was just giving an alternative answer. The most likely reason for him not clicking straight away is, as has been said, him not being at Adkins standards of fitness but also (and more importantly) the fact that our style of play is much, much higher to that of Doncasters. ottery st mary Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 If Billy Sharp is fit to play... Will be selected and you know he will score at least two goals... He is a goalscorer and that is the way of the world.. 4-0 win Sharp 2 Lambert and Chaplow... WIFM
ART Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 David you forgot to mention that George often would be in a state of being incapable of seeing either opponents eyes or the goal. Yet, somehow he was incredible at scoring. Many people used to say they could smell the alcohol on his breath on the terraces. As for George Kirby, in my eyes he was an absolute legend during his time at Saints. He has an amazing hunger for scoring goals.

Clifford Nelson Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 I made a careful comment about Billy's physique being rather more rotund than I expected last saturday. My season ticket neighbour expressed himself with rather more vigour. Then I remembered Lambert when he arrived and the amazing transformation he has gone through without losing his skills as a goal scorer. I think that Billy soon will be shedding a few pounds which will help him. Otherwise he is the first striker we've had for some time who is always seeking to get into the box rather than in other areas on the pitch, and I really like the look of that. Yes, but I was trying to be diplomatic ART, (on O'Brien) .... but whatever his poison - it seemed to work in George's case...he scored some incredible goals and still holds some sort of club record for hat-tricks and four goal tallies,I think. As for (Kirby), he was someone who definitely liked to get eyeball-to-eyeball with a goalie... and most likely scared the sh*t out of them !
