Saints - undefeated for the rest of the season

We'll lose on Saturday. I see us struggling against Reading and who knows what will happen against that lot down the road. We certainly won't go undefeated between now and the end of the season. I still see us finishing 3rd and failing in the play offs. :-(

You're certainly true to your avatar!

God, (not that there is one) do you ever give it a break? All you do is accuse people of being Skates (or as you pathetically put it, "you smelly fish") when they come out with something that doesn't appeal to your happy clappy, tea in my tartan flask, blanket on cold afternoon at SMS, sandwiches at HT nature.

Some people do not think Saints will win every game, some people have watched them long enough to know how we can **** things up. I spent most of the late 80's and early 90's seeing us fail to reach the League Cup Final over and over again, no matter what lesser team we drew out of the hat.

Ying and Yang, black and white, heads and tails.

I was really hoping for a Posh win last night. I am now worried. The most worried I have been for a number of weeks.

I am sure our run in looked much easier a few weeks ago. Just hope that Reading and West Ham draw on sat and then we do the business at Blackpool.

I do not like the fact that we will know the result of their game before we kick off. PRESSURE!!!

and herein lies the problem within our supporters. People become conditioned by their experiences and coupled with their natural instincts either think that the past dictates the likely outcome of the here and now or actually has little to do with it

In the case of Saints it has nothing to do with it because it is a completely different set of players staff and management. They are not affected by saints in the 80s or 90 because they obviously were not there which allows the complete fresh perspective and attitude.

I understand why you and many of our fanbase have thir feeling that we will messit up ''because thats wgat saints do'' but this is a team and a club that is extremely well managed and a group of players who are very good at winning and achieving the aims set for them.

I lived through the 80s and 90s but also the late 70s which with the early 80s were a level of success most saints fans do not expect to experience again. Im not so sure now, i think it may be possible

what any individual believes is their choice but its exactly that - a choice.

Cortese, Adkins and the players all choose to believe that SFC is going places and its that approach that maintains performance

The last people on the bus are understandably in some cases are us fans as a whole. Individually its your choice whether u jump on board now and enjoy the ride or make other arrangements down the line to get on board the journey. When we are all on board as one who knows what can be achieved.

How are you more worried now than a few weeks ago? We have only been in so strong a position for about a week. We are unbeaten in 11 games, 5 points clear of WHU and Reading with only 6 games to go. They are playing each other at the weekend so any result will disadvantage one of them and thus give us a boost. Blackpool will be tough but we've gotten through tougher games this season.

If anything, I'm becoming increasingly more confident about our chances, with every game that goes past it becomes one less game available for us to be caught up.

As for knowing the result before kick off, I on the other hand think its great because the players will know what they have to do and will raise their game as they have done so brilliantly this season.

Now is not the time for panicking, WHU and Reading would kill to be in our shoes right now.

I think, to be honest, you have shown a pretty decent argument against my concerns here! I think pessimism was rather getting the better of me. For some reason, my mind keeps blocking out the fact that we are still 6 points clear of WHU and 5 clear of Reading.

And you are quite right - they would both kill to be in our position.

Reminder to self - keep calm and carry on!

That's not the case here. Cestrian predicts a loss before EVERY game and comes out with more doom and gloom than alpine. He is someone on a wind up, be it Skate or otherwise. Another one for the ignore list.

realistically, West ham have to get 2 wins and a draw to overatke us (superior goal difference is worth an extra point) whilst we get nothing from 3 games. With 7 games left this is not impossible but highly unrealistic.

Each time we get a win, irrespective of what West ham and Reading do, we get even closer to promotion.

Based on the above I reckon 9 more points will do it for automatic promotion............and maybe less if West ham beat Reading and so do we.

Oddly, some people seem to have taken West Ham's result to heart last night, and are reacting like we lost a game....

They're 6 points behind us, they have 18 points available to get.

It will take an almighty dip in form (probably slightly worse than in January/December) for us to fail now.

The bonus things for us is our GD, which isn't going to be caught, the fact we play reading at HOME and the fact WHU and Reading play each other.

Oh and we are also at home on the last day against Cov, whilst Reading are away at Birmingham.

I would not swap our position for anyone’s, we have had an amazing season and sit in an amazing position. Let's just enjoy it, there's no reason to look at things negatively or prepare for the worst.
