Chelsea bought that lad from Sheff Utd (from memory?) who did so well against us in the cup but he doesnt seem to have played for them yet.

 

A lot of changes to the Chelsea team for this game but it would still have been a storng team.

 

I wonder if our lads wound theirs up with chants of "you'll never play for your first team". I would have.

Little aside to this, the last player Chelsea saw break into the first team regularly from their Academy was John Terry, and he doesn't look like THIS any more :

Even if he did, he played for Man City's first team in the Premier League in 2007 and signed for Chelsea in 2009 ! That would be like Arsenal claiming Oxlade-Chamberlain as one of theirs, or us making out we developed Jack Stephens when he'd already played in 5 League One games for Plymouth when we signed him.

It was a shrewd move to sign Bamford before the match, so as he couldnt play against them.
