NA confirms Sharp sub was tactical

probably means he wanted to give Tad a decent shot at it and you can't say he let his manager down, even if it was our 4th goal.

We'll need our strikers to be firing on all cylinders in coming weeks and if a striker isn't scoring (and you can't count that own goal last week) then the others deserve a try.

Pleased with the result - all we need now is for WHU to draw both games in hand! Who is to say they won't lose one of them?

Not convinced we are at our back to our best yet - never fear...Leeds looks like a tough one in a couple of weeks, but then again Watford could be a banana skin as they are a bit of a bogey team!

Won't be easy games thats for sure, especially now Warnock will have had a few weeks there. Top result today though, no reason why we can't push on now.

What a day - 4-0 and back to our best it would seem! Glad to hear Jos is ok, hope the same is true of Billy (just because he missed a chance against WHU and Tad scored does not mean he isn't extremely important to us - I reckon he'll continue to be first choice for a while longer)

Agree with those saying that we are actually much better squad wise now then when we got to the top earlier in the season. We've turned it around at just the right time it seems and with all these options on the bench I'd hope we're going to go on another run and reach the promised land.

Come on boys! We can do it!

They lost 4-0 to Palace today.

I shall attempt to re-write history and my part in the prediction if proved wrong. Isn't that the way as done by the vocal minority of 2004.
Love the way you're still saying IF...Barnsley had 56 in 17th last year, Preston with 54 the year before and Coventry with 54 the year before that. We now have 59. Just accept you're ridiculously wrong and move on.

Hmmm, potentially interesting...Sharp not fitting in as neatly as hoped perhaps?

P.s. I've no doubt he'll score a shed load in due course :-)

Don't think so, Adkins just said he felt it was time to introduce "Chung's" energy into the game. He was quick to praise Sharp saying he has "big hopes" for him

Great result and that's good news with regards to Billy and Jos, would have been a shame to lose them with momentum building. I know Sharp hasn't quite hit the ground running yet but these things sometimes take a while. He was Donny's main man and had a real affinity with the club and fans so it might just take some adjusting.

With so many fixtures over March and April we're going to need the fringe players to make an impact so it bodes well that Lee and Martin left such a positive impression on this game. Could be a big couple of months for the likes of SDR, Butterfield, Harding, Falque etc and i have every faith in the squad and NA.

Looking at the table its pretty tight with sime of the chasing pack having games in hand.

Aye Reading and Brum would be 2 points behind (and West Ham 4 ahead) IF they won their games in hand, i can see them pushing us all the way like Huddersfield last season.

We just need to keep winning and forget what the others are doing

Come on Blackpool

This, shouldn't take much notice of the teams below just focus on our own results. We win our home games and get a couple of wins and a couple of draws on the road and we'll go up IMO.

#SaintsFC 4-0 #DCFC 5th time this season Saints have scored 4+, 10th time scored 3+, now +10GD on #WHUFC. They're back. Derby outclassed

...(cont'd) and that's just the league. #SaintsFC have scored another 14 in cup comps. New Japan striker Tadanari Lee looks quality addition

Surely then we want West Ham to win on Tuesday? Two sides pull clear ..ergo we we are not constantly looking at a hist of sides' results & fixtures?

Lots of Positives:

Tadanari Lee's thunderbolt. If you weren't at the game, the highlights are a must. It was an absolute belter.

Good team performance. After we went 2-0 up, the passing and movement was amazing.

Midfield looked very good. Chaplow had lots of energy and played like someone with a point to prove. Schneiderlin was aggressive in tackling their players as well as passing well. Cork put in a good performance as well.

A couple of negatives:

Sharp was ineffective. He gave the ball away a couple of times, and wasn't a threat. This could be because our midfield haven't adapted to his game yet and don't know the type of pass he wants to receive or the runs he wants to make. In time, he will make a bigger impact.

Harding didn't make any errors at right back, but didn't inspire confidence. Derby were poor for most of the game, but there were a number of occasions when he was not able to deal with situations as effectively as a right footer would have. Hope either Richardson or Butterfield are available soon. Harding would be found out against a better team, playing out of position.

Was optimistic before the game and the players delivered. Great to have such a large squad with a lot of quality. Guly and Richardson injured? Harding and Chaplow come in - despite NEITHER being a part of the squad against West Ham.

Hooiveld got a knock? On comes Martin. Sharp not working tactically? On comes Lee. Still got Puncheon, Hammond, and Connolly on the bench as well. We have the strength in depth and are now back in our groove for the most important part of the season. There will still be ups and downs and it will be tight, but the club are going to give it the best shot possible and I can't wait.

That's more like it. This is much more reminiscent of our early season performances.

We started the game very well I thought and we took a deserved lead early on through Jos - great delivery and he's turning into a pretty prolific centre back! I thought we'd then go on and rack up the goals straight away, but to be fair to Derby they came well into it and put us under quite a bit of pressure before the HT break.

We still had quality in our play though and every time we ventured forward you felt we could score, we looked very dangerous. I didn't think Sharp had the best of games and I hope that miss @ WHU doesn't effect him too much, as he looked a little low and flat today - he's better than that and we'll see that eventually.

We had to withstand a little bit more pressure in the 2nd half and the goal from Martin came at the perfect time - it pretty much flattened derby and took the wind out of their sails, and from there on then it was done and dusted for us. We played some great stuff in the 2nd half and I thought Chaplow was starting to influence things again, although you can see he's still slightly off the pace - and that will only come back with games.

The third goal was quality, great move from back to front and the volley from Lallana was sublime - and I thought he was exceptional today. Driving us forward and dictating the tempo - MOTM by an absolute mile, a true class act who is back to his brilliant best.

Then we get onto Lee....what a flaming goal that was. Great first touch and an even better 2nd touch. He showed his true quality there and we've got ourselves a proper player - no doubts about that.

Overall a nice 4-0 win, back to the top and a boost to our GD. A goal for Lee will do him the world of good as he is class IMO, and those 60mins for Chappers will be massive for him - and for us.

We look right back in the groove now - the blip is well and truly over.

When we play like we did at times today we are unplayable in this league,[however we switched off totally from around 30 th minute to our second goal and we cannot keep doing this and getting away with it]. Lallana was magnificent and I thought Chaplow and Schneiderlin were superb as well. Harding worries the hell out of me at right back and the quicker we get Butterfield back the better. Overall well pleased.

Sounds like the confidence is back. We owed someone a thrashing.

The thing for me is our next 6 fixtures is much better than any of the closing pack, they all gotta face eachother so points will be dropped. We have an easier run, our tough run is out the way and we didnt even lose!

And I won 35£, happy days

Loved that. Apart from a few nervous moments in our box in the last 15 mins of the first half we were totally dominant. Thought Lallana was superb, Lee's goal was magnificent and great to see Chaplow getting a run out and improving his fitness.

Took my 6 year old too. His 6th game, never seen Saints lose, only draw was the 2-2 vs Blackpool. He's now seen Saints score 17 and let in 3. At this rate when he gets a season ticket we'll be unstoppable.

But for the last 10 of the first half and first 10 of the second half that's probably the most dominant a display I've seen from us at St Mary's this season. Lallana was different class today, KD made a quality save to keep it at 1-0, and Lee's goal lifted the roof off the ground, stunning strike! Feeling much more optimistic about our promotion chances with our team back to strength now.

Wow what a game.

I voted for Fox because of his assists but Lallana was close behind and surprised that at the time of typing this Kelvin hasn't got a MOTM vote there were a couple of really good shots that he stopped (rather than parrying them back out).

A fantastic result and a real statement of intent. Points in the bag rather than playing catch up thank you very much.

I guess there is still a bit of work to do to secure 17th spot, dinlow!
