John D Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 I've been speaking to a few Leeds fans up here and been told our game has been chosen for big demos against Bates. They have picked our game as it is on TV and the plan is for mass disruption and pitch invasions etc. Could make it an interesting evening!

Dr Who? Posted 18 February, 2012 Posted 18 February, 2012 Really wanted to go to this one, but Sky put pay to this.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 18 February, 2012 Posted 18 February, 2012 I think their team should demonstrate by scoring 10 own goals. This would really send out a message.
Turkish Posted 18 February, 2012 Posted 18 February, 2012 I feel sorry for Leeds fans. They are in reality what Pompey think they are. A massive club with a huge loyal fan base steeped in history who have been run by a succession of idiots. Their fall from grace was even sharper than ours. You'd think given their fan base and potential they'd be the ideal club for a foreign billionaire to invest in and try to restore former glories, all they got was Ken Bates trying to build a hotel on club ground.

Pretty accurate assessment, imo. I'm right in thinking that Yorkshire has no Premier League representation at the moment, which is a little surprising, as its a pretty huge area and I remember the days of Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday being in the top flight. It is, as you say, a prime candidate for a big money takeover. The circumstances behind Bates' takeover were a bit murky, iirc. Didn't the Leeds fans have to go to some lengths to actually find out who their owner was?

I think their administration period was 'interesting' as Bates put them into Admin as soon as they were mathematically certain to be relegated (leading to the admin deadline we have now), and miraculously was able to take them straight back over again.
Badger Posted 18 February, 2012 Posted 18 February, 2012 I saw in the paper earlier that Bates was meeting Colin W^nker in Monaco so could we yet again be victims of new manager syndrome ?
do i not like fizzy pop Posted 18 February, 2012 Posted 18 February, 2012 Working in Leeds and naturally share an office with a large number of Leeds fans. The thing sticking in their throat more than anything at the moment is that Bates gave them under two weeks to renew season tickets in January or face an £80 odd increase, then sold players, sacked Grayson and now with Warnock appointed - they ain't a happy bunch
rick1976.4.38 Posted 18 February, 2012 Posted 18 February, 2012 dont blame them being fed up,especially if theyve to pay those prices week in,week out.£29 for an u16,p**s take or what.
TopGun Posted 18 February, 2012 Posted 18 February, 2012 I'd expect it is all hot air and nothing will happen.
