Turkish Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 Are you suggesting that they had full capacity attendances? Certainly Swansea have been and Fulham getting pretty near it. SHould we really be slapping ourselves on the back that our attendances are bigger than Wigans FFS?!!

Or maybe we should rely on people paying more on the day when times are tough and the weathers a bit sh*t.

trousers Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 (edited) Blew my money on the West Ham away game so i won't be there tomorrow. ^This. Plus those James Blunt tickets cost an arm and a leg. Not to mention Spamalot at the Victoria Theatre in Woking last weekend. Woe is me for having a social life that is less dull than going to watch football every other week.... Window Cleaner Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 the club clearly aren't happy with a 2/3's full stadiun... well then they need to drop the prices for about 1 game in 3 or 4 especially after 4000 odd fans have blown hundreds by going to West Ham and a couple of K have signed on for Watford as well. Window Cleaner Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 So are you suggesting the club have got the ticket policy wrong? No not insomuch but a special offer from time to time is probably what it needs.I know they did something on the lines of £15 for those having purchased tickets for previous games a while back but a £10 all round wouldn't go amiss just now. Guess the ST holders would be moaning again though.

gazzzza Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 the ticket office will prioritise pompey tickets to season ticket holders, members & people on database who've attended recent matches (and then pair them up with another game or two) which will sell them out before the 1 gamers get in . Very poor, should be 25,000 at least. I guess all the one gamers will come back in time for the Pompey game though.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 dont forget this game was originally set for a tuesday, only rearranged once we lost to millwall in cup. so it hasnt been a saturday fixture for very long. I think there will be a few that will walk up on saturday. 24k would be my guess which actually is not that bad. football attendances are down overall and 24k for 2nd tier is not terrible and would be more than a lot of the bottom half teams in prem get. dronskisaint Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 bet there will not be many games tomorrow with bigger attendances than ours, overall our figures are good compared to national levels. football is a bl*ody dear hobby these days, I am glad my 2 lads are grown up and pay for their own season tickets The voice of reason...I have my ticket...how Uber am I? This Charming Man Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 He is spot on; for me it was a straight choice between West Ham and Derby, I choose WHU. The vast majority of WHU tickets were sold to season ticket holders, only a few hundred if that went on sale to non-season ticket holders. So using WHU away as an excuse for the majority is garbage. Your setiments are great but you can say all this and not bother going to games. Dont forget the recession is on, the weather might be a bit sh*t, the opposition aren't that attractive, it's only a normal game, something about midweek games being difficult to get to, two games in a week, got mouths to feed, went to an away game in the last month etc etc... gingerone Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 As a season ticket holder I chose to pay up front. If the club are struggling to sell tickets then they should drop the price in line with demand. I will not moan about it because I made the decision to pay for my seat for the season. It would be a bit like me moaning that I paid twice as much for a holiday than someone else that waited to the last minute to buy. Well I wanted that specific holiday and I have it, they gambled that they got it cheaper, the agents had spare slots left so sold them cheaper. That is the way the world works now.......drop the prices and fill the place....fact.
sotonjoe Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 21000 before any on the day walk-up is pretty good isn't it? The majority of our attendances seem to fall between 20k and 25k depending on a whole host of factors so with a thousand paying on the day there's nothing alarming about our forthcoming attendance. krissyboy31 Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 Blimey, there are some Premier League teams that would be delighted to have sold 20 odd thousand before the day of the game. sotonjoe Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 Can't see why it's "very poor". I've just checked our home league attendances and, if you ignore the prestige games (local derbies or against big boys West Ham etc) and the ever popular Christmas games, all attendances are between 21k and 24K really. What are people realistically expecting us to achieve for a game against Derby on a Saturday in February?
saints_is_the_south Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 What are people realistically expecting us to achieve for a game against Derby on a Saturday in February? In the middle of a promotion push for a return to the Premier League, a chance to return to the top of the table and a Saturday 3pm kick off, I'd say at least 24-25,000. Orange Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 I will be working, to fund away games like Leeds. forever a red and white Posted 17 February, 2012 Share Posted 17 February, 2012 Its not that suprising. Football is very expensive for people today and there is less money for people to spend on it, prices aren't getting any cheaper. Yes we should hope to have a bigger crowd tomorrow but we're not the only club. A few seasons ago for one of the games, Schalke fans boycotted a game because prices went from around £15 to £22-£30. Seems strong but the message was put across and the original prices remained.
