Poor.

And probably unlikely, can't believe we'll get as few as that.It would explain the appeal from the club though cos that sort of

attendance would be worrying to them if it were to continue for very long. Our salarial mass must be pretty weighty nowadays

and it's not 21K crowds and a bit of TV money that's going to fund it.

Very poor, should be 25,000 at least.

I guess all the one gamers will come back in time for the Pompey game though.

It's a disgrace, a game where we could go back top. If we cant get 25k minimum then there is something seriously wrong.

I asked whilst adding my nephew to my season ticket many sold tomorrow. He said no very poor and quiet today very low 20's he said unlikely even above 21. Club are very shocked as in there forecasting were expecting above 27k.

All this financial crisis nonsense makes me laugh. Granted in some cases but majority just don't prioritise it. I put saints above sky, internet, phone bill etc and if I was struggling would cut those down. Granted I'm minted so I have all of those ;)

Indeed, our fans seem quick to tell us how great everything is, but not quick to dip into their pockets and back the club at the turnstiles.

And yet we found 3000 to go to West Ham on a Valentine's Tuesday.

The attendance will be 25,635 which isn't too bad. Two games in a week is a big stretch for many families, particularly after the Christmas credit card bill hits.

Personally I can't be arsed to attend tomorrow. There are too many people moaning at the games these days - too many people, not enough people, yada yada...

Not condoning, but trying to understand by saying that it is half term this week and we have had two home games. A lot of cash for people to stump up especially if kids do (or indeed don't) want to go. Nonetheless, I shall be there with my two tomorrow.

how do you explain Cardiff? 2,000 Cardiff fans meant only 22,000 Saints fans for second v third. It wasn't half term, it was only our second home game of 2012.

Wasn't the weather pretty ropey? It seems to me that about 25/30% of our core fanbase aren't even locals.

Even London-Southampton or Basingstoke-Southampton is a pain when the weather's sh*t.

I usually buy 9 seats as I don't like anyone sitting beside, behind or in front of me but I can't make it tomorrow. This possibly explains the shortfall.

Mind you with an itchy bum like yours it's probably best to have a quarantine zone around you.

Nah, travel was fine.

Why the rolling eyes? This was the forum which claimed we need to expand SMS and that we'd get 40k+ EASILY if we were in the top flight. IT cant be the cost, it'll be more expensive then. It cant be the weather, it's supposed to be warm for February tomorrow, it cant be the standard of football, we could be top of the league tomorrow night with our best team of all time (some say) so what is it?

Like it or not football is not recession proof and going to a game is not a cheap activity such as going to the cinema. So the people who usually would go to 5 or 6 home games a season are now only going to 2 or 3. For people in this situation they are more likely to want to see games at the end of the season than Derby in Feb (which is the 2nd home game in 7 days).

We haven't got another Saturday home game after this one for weeks. Do you think Saints got their ticketing/pricing wrong or are we just not that well supported? Edited by Sour Mash

wasn't there a big argument during the summer about the price of our season tickets and the clubs seemingly lack of desire for people to buy season tickets full stop, an idea put forward on here because they possibly felt the demand for higher priced individual game tickets would be high thereby making them more money overall.

Who knows if that was true but I wonder how that is working out?

It's down to a number of things, and money is definitely one of the main reasons.

- People simply struggling financially have to tighten their belt and go to 1 match a month

- The prices aren't exactly cheap including travel etc.

- Someone may have gone to West Ham away earlier in the week and blown a fair bit of cash in the process, making a game this Saturday financially awkward.

probably just not some mass supported super club we al like to think....

bet there will not be many games tomorrow with bigger attendances than ours, overall our figures are good compared to national levels.

football is a bl*ody dear hobby these days, I am glad my 2 lads are grown up and pay for their own season tickets

Assume you've done some large scale survey or have you just totally made that up?

and if the club had been proactive in the summer in offering good deals and payment plans on season tickets then none of this would be an issue, no?

be interesting to see where we rank tomorrow in terms of not only NPC games but games in england overall

I suggested it at the times and it was just a guess, that the club did a bit of working out and reckoned on making more money having close to full grounds each week of those paying full whack per game, rather than have the guaranteed, but possibly lower overall, income of a ground of season ticket holders. Without seeing all the figures we'll never know, but I bet we projected for higher home crowds on the basis of the team doing well. Also not had any big home cup games this year to boost the coffers.

No Prem football, so that shouldn't be too hard.

why...when chelsea, sunderland, liverpool, leeds, forest are at home this weekend

if the club got it all wrong we won't be up there then....no..?

even with it we have been in top 10 of home attendances this year beating Wigan, Swansea,Wolves,Bolton, Fulham,Stoke, QPR on a regular basis I believe

Think you're contradicting yourself a bit there? You've listed 5 clubs there and the earlier post mentioned being 5th or 6th. Leeds ticket prices are a complete joke and are having a poor season, hence their poor crowds. Forest are having a very poor season and their crowds have remained pretty reasonable.

Not sure of your other piece of logic either - "if the club got it wrong we wouldn't be up there" - well all depends on what crowds we think we could be getting? Many on here have stated its the best football they've seen in their life time, certainly it's some of the best in the last 20 years at times. Don't think Leeds or Forest fans are exactly saying that.

and so we should given most of them have ground smaller than ours.

one thing is unarguable and that is that if the club had been proactive in offering season tickets and decent payment options then cost wouldn't be a problem for anyone tomorrow.

I can't make it tomorrow because it's impossible to sit still for 45 minutes :(

Well at least when the stewards tell you to sit down you can explain by showing them your a-hole.
