Turkish Posted 18 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 18 February, 2012 well, if they have raked in more money this year than last...then they have won for all your bleating about cortese (and you constantly do) and how the club mug you off....bet you are going today..right..? I don't feel that our prices are unreasonable at the moment. £500 for a season ticket isn't too bad for 23 games, even though compared to Europe it's a lot of money. I do have a figure in my mind though I won't go over, if we start being charged £40 plusor premier league football I won't be going and I won't be getting a season ticket. It's all about supply and demand, if SFC sell out every week at £32, the prices will go up to £35, sell out at that they'll go up again and keep going up until they aren't turning fans away every week. Unlike some on here, I don't believe that the chairman willspend £30m to expand the stadium, keep price at £25 and give the unsold ones away for nothing if we can't sell out, all because he's a great guy and loves then fans. um pahars Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 well, if they have raked in more money this year than last...then they have won Not sure I would say won, more that they would have been deemed to have made the right decision (saying they've won makes it sound as though it is some sort of a battle, although I concede that the odd person seems to view it as a battle!!!!). However, I'm not sure it can or even should be measured in such narrow economic parameters. Some would argue that a fuller stadium, even if at slightly reduced ££££s is an advantage when playing at home, whilst others would point to the long term view of catching and retaining people as being a sensible approach. I think the Club have got things right, such as free tickets for U11s in the Chapel (great idea for catching them young), but also think they got other things wrong (initial season ticket selling was poorly handled). It's obviously not an easy job and everyone will have an opinion.
eelpie Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 If only we where like pompey's amazing surpporters..... I'll admit to missing a couple of the recent games...mostly becuase evening games aren't always easy to get to with work and family commitments. Just leave matches at 3.00 on a saturday and I'll be there stick them on in the evening and it's 50/50 for me. I'll be there tommorrow hoping to see another performance like last weeks against Burnley. Evening games are becoming increasingly to get to from London due to commitments (and travelling costs) and I'm a ST holder. Every time they switch a game from a Saturday to an evening inevitably means less attendances and less atmosphere in the stadium. And there have been fewer Saturday matches recently. I'm surprised this hasn't aroused concern among supporters. They don't know what they're doing.
lordswoodsaints Posted 18 February, 2012 Share Posted 18 February, 2012 I think some of you have to accept that times are hard for many people at the moment and although all saints fans would love to goto every game the reality is that family, bills, mortgage etc etc are higher up the pecking order.......regardless of how well the team is doing.
