Yago Falqué - just remembered we have him on loan

Looked average/below average on debut and we now have better/more on form players back in the squad. Seems a pretty pointless loan thus far in the O'Hallaran(sp?) loan a few seasons back. Bagpuss will not be happy!

basically...you have written him off alraedy

bound to be a great player then

Just being kept out by better I feel. No-one could have predicted Puncheon making his peace with the establishment so he was signed as contingency.... Feel a bit sorry for him actually, looked to have some flair but was a bit off the pace.

Not at all. I merely answered the OP's question as to why he may not have played. He may be excellent as I said "thus far" he is more O'hallaran than Saganowski in his prowess as a loan player. Happy to help you understand my opinion ;-)

NA is doing a fantastic job, but his signings perm/loan have been very average! 1 in 3 tend to be good

Wow. Just wow.

Hard to judge Falque on what we've seen of him, but he wouldn't have come here to not even make the bench I'm sure! But without cup games, I just don't see where he will get his chance to play, we're not in the position to blood new players when we have our own players, who all have more experience of playing for Saints, on the bench as well.

Like you I think Adkins forays in the transfer/loan markets have not been wonderfully successful (compared to Pardew for example)

However remeember Dave jones saying that he worked on an average of 1 in 3 of his new players would be successful

Of course it depends on who brings in the players eg Scouts/Chairman etc

pardew had trotmann, mellis, otsemobor.....pretty poor players really

seaborne has hardly featured really either...injury or not

dickson has hardly been a regular

Puncheon coming back into the fold has rendered him obselete! I can't imagine Spurs as too happy about the situation as he was loaned out to get more games and he is actually playing less for us than he did for them as he played in their Europa and FA Cup ties.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the loan cancelled in the next couple of weeks and him return to WHL as at least he would get regular games in the Premier League reserve league.

I've seen 50 minutes of him play, and that was very poor. He is 22 years old and has never played regularly for any team apart from a year in Spains 2nd division. If he had all that fantastic talent I hear about I would have thought he'd be playing regularly somewhere by now. When we signed him there was a long thread running where the majority were enthusiastic about him and a few, like me, thinking it was an odd signing. After his first appearance for us I commented: Optimists 0 Pessimists 1. I reckon that's where it stands at the moment. Did he set the world alight in the U 21s?

Seems to me there is a place for Falque in the squad. He has replaced Forte and is probably 4th wingman behind Puncheon, de Ridder and Lallana. That the team often a has a MF player playing wide doesn't detract from the need for wing cover.

Don't forget you have to fit Guly in among the wingmen now and Chaplow.

So in effect you have Falque,Lallana,Puncheon,Guly,Chappy,De Ridder competing for 2 places, not to mention Reeves.

So you choose betewwen Punch and Guly for the right spot, Lallana on the left and shake the bag for whoever else gets

the other place on the bench for an attacking midfielder.

I think most sides tend NOT to loan out their best players, do they? ...sometimes giving a chance for a fringe player to get games (as we have with Dickson and Holmes), or to help a player get back to form after injury or, on other occasions it seems the best loans are those where the player doesn't get along with his (former)manager. ala... Chaplow at Preston, (Darren F. must be kicking himself over that one) and Lennon (Celtic) didn't see the qualities in Jos Hooiveld that NA obviously did.

Frankly, I'm quite surprised the figure you quote is only 1 in 3....it's not as if we 're looking to sign most of them permanently !
