Gemmel Posted 15 February, 2012 Posted 15 February, 2012 My lad was talking to a wham fan last night who told him that wham would be 12th without all the penalties they had had this season. Not sure if that's true, but seems very strange if it is right........ but we have had a few oursleves, would it drastically change our league position, if you took out all of our penalty goals? And yes, I know this is a proper sad one
Lighthouse Posted 15 February, 2012 Posted 15 February, 2012 (edited) Cardiff at home is the only game this season when a Saints penalty has been the decisive goal. Would move us 1 point down and Cardiff up 2 if we're assuming the rest of history is completely unaffected. FWIW Penalties this season Cardiff - home - 1-1 draw Brighton (2) - home - 3-0 win Watford - home - 4-0 win Birmingham - home - 4-1 win No penalties away from home yet. Gemmel Posted 15 February, 2012 Author Posted 15 February, 2012 MLG-esque intervention alert...it depends how many of those penalties denied a nailed on goal versus those that didn't. As demostrated by one Billy Sharp last night, there is no such thing as a nailed on goal.

sfc1971 Posted 15 February, 2012 Posted 15 February, 2012 How many more points would we have if we took advantage of the amount of corners we get ?
Nexstar Posted 15 February, 2012 Posted 15 February, 2012 How many more points would we have if we took advantage of the amount of corners we get ? We would have been promoted 3 weeks ago
Legod Third Coming Posted 15 February, 2012 Posted 15 February, 2012 Don't know about that stat, but we have failed to win away to any of the top 14 sides. That's bad.
Fan The Flames Posted 15 February, 2012 Posted 15 February, 2012 There was a season in the early 90s or late 80s where we would have won the league if games were 85mins long.
saintmatt Posted 15 February, 2012 Posted 15 February, 2012 How many more points would we have if we took advantage of the amount of corners we get ? I've been saying that for 25 years
del boy Posted 16 February, 2012 Posted 16 February, 2012 How many more points would we have if we took advantage of the amount of corners we get ? We'd have a goal difference of about +150 ...its a good point though, its become a standing joke now, whenever we get a corner you just have to say Ok thats good - but we never score from corners (well maybe a token one per season)
yamms_schmitz Posted 16 February, 2012 Posted 16 February, 2012 How many more points would we have if we took advantage of the amount of corners we get ? Yet we keep doing these stupid short corners. I have been moaning about short corners for 10 years. Get the ball in that space where the keeper doesn't want to come for it. It is really that simple.
This Charming Man Posted 16 February, 2012 Posted 16 February, 2012 It's a bit like that ol' chestnut about refs being biased and giving more penalties to Man Utd than anyone else. The reason they get more penalties is because they frequently get the ball in the opposition box. Same thing applies here.
This Charming Man Posted 16 February, 2012 Posted 16 February, 2012 How many more points would we have if we took advantage of the amount of corners we get ? How many more points would we have if our crosses were able to beat the first man?
