Does anyone else still really not like Derby? Its not hate, they are not worth that (a bit like Reading). But while it has dimmed a bit, I still want them to do badly.

I think it dates back to quite a few seasons before the play off defeat and the Billy Davies nonsense, it was a series of undeserved defeats / cr@p decisions at Pride Park, and a particularly freezing cold FA Cup defeat there, again with a dodgy decision.

Sorry Rams I know its odd, but I do hope we batter them for all sorts of reasons

Don't mind them too much now with Cloughie, just their team back then with Davies as manager, Bywater,Howard, Moore.

Same team as wetsham bar punch in for Guly, butters for Fraser if fit and lee on bench even at connolly's expense if needed. Wouldn't play Hammond at home when teams get behind the ball and need opening up. If he has to play, stick him in tough away games to shore up the defensive middle.

He means Jack Stephens.

Jack Stephens isn't injured, he played for 90 minutes in the development team game against Brighton today.

Back to the original question, it would be a big risk to give a full league debut to a teenager in the run in of a promotion campaign when there are senior players able to cover in that position.

Jack has played League One for Plymouth which may or may not be a recommendation but if he is good enough we should play him. Derby are not the best attacking force in the league and it just might be the perfect way to bleed him.

scrappy one nil win will do me

NOOOOOOOOOOO

It HAS to be a tear them a new one performance, with at least 50 passes leading up to each of the 10 goals that we score and 52 shots on target.

(Simply so I can annoy Eric with tales of the game for the next couple of seasons 8) )

my only concern for this game would really be if frazer is not playing at rb. i think derbys best player is jamie ward who tends to play wide left. still think we'll win quite comfortably though derby are a better side this season than last.

Jamie Ward looked a handful at Pride Park earlier on in the season, but they've slumped a bit since then. Weren't they 3rd when we played them ?

I want to see SDR on the bench at least, if we need a goal he can really make something happen.

Well I'd think you are going to be severely disappointed then.We have at least 5 better players than SDR available for the bench.

I'd have him in for Lee, who, as sure as I am that he'll contribute this season, isn't the explosive kind of player that I think might need in a game like this. SDR might be frustrating (as demonstrated Blackpool home) , but he has a real turn of pace and tricky feet (as demonstrated Reading away). Imagine if we're a goal up with twenty minutes to play tomorrow; I think thats the time to bring him on. He stands on the last man and runs in behind, relieving pressure and creating chances of our own. He'd be in my 16 almost every week, although I suspect Nigel will leave him out again.

As you say he'd be in your 16 but he is now rarely in Nigel's.I have the benefit of seeing him in Belgium beforehand...he isn't very good, rushes around a lot but little or no end product. If we aren't beset by injuries I doubt that we'll even see him in a first team shirt again.

I was up at Pride Park this season. We were unlucky not to beat them at theirs. Hopefully, the old "home game form" will come back. But it's massively hit and miss at the moment, and I'm still a bit disappointed we didn't manage to collect all the points up at Upton Park.

I'm not really a fan of the Rams, or Derby itself. I worked there on assignment for a bit. At Derby train station, they have a sign telling you where all the chain stores are. Half of them are in Nottingham :) Also, an associate of mine is a massive Derby fan, wide-eyed Tory and crowed like feck when they knocked us out of the playoffs. For this reason, I'm hoping for a convincing 3-0 win that'll send them back off to Derby with their tail between their legs. Or Nottingham, depending on if they have any shopping to do.

As a Fair Weather Supporter, I've just seen the forecast for tomorrow - raining by 3 o'clock, wet afternoon and getting colder. Not fancying the walk to and from the ground so I'll have Dave Merrington to keep me company. I'm hoping Saints will score 3 or 4 tomorrow so that at 5pm I can really regret not having been there to see it.. But then, by 5.15 I'll be enjoying the League Table, and instead of sitting in traffic jam on the Itchen Bridge wondering what it feels like to be warm and dry, I'll be indoors having a warm cup of tea and beginning to read the reports on the web.

I can't STAND Derby as my brother in law loves them and keeps singing their one and only song 'we are Derby, super Derby, super Rams, super Derby', which is a pile of old doo doo. I never hear from him when they lose, which will be tomorrow I hope otherwise the phone is getting switched off. Also, there was THAT match. So my perfect Saturday is Saints win, Pompey lose, Derby lose and get players sent off/injured. That is all.

I don't know why But I'm kinda looking forward to this one as it may be that I am off to London afterwards for my older Brothers Birthday with my younger Brother who is also going to it but will be seperate from me as he is using someone elses ST and I was going to go for 2-0 Saints but I am now starting to sway off towards a 3-1 win to Saints with goals from Lambert-(Hopefully for his Birthday at least!), Sharp n Hammond/Lalanna n Tyson/Ward for Derby and if Saints do win which I'm sure they will then I will definately have a drink to them!

COYR :D!!!

i would replace cork with hammond, cork was our worst player on tuesday/looked knackered.

Agree he was awful! Is Richardson fit. Puncheon was fab.

Also everyone was slating Roberts saying he would not be able to do it at Reading, I said he would net plenty. The experience will do them well.

Would have been rubbish for us though.

Will we see the team choke today just when there's a chance to go back top? Something tells me all the intentions will be good, but we'll be fannying around in the final third trying to find the perfect pass - they'll then break, score and park the coach in front goal. 0-1 Derby. (;

Short build-up thread. Are we nervous, overconfident or forgot we have a game today?

Hope Sharp plays again despite the misses at WH. Need to develop that partnership. Still think NA is very loyal to Connolly though and wouldn't be surprised if he came in. On the wings I think Guly will start, although would love SDR to be involved. I'll be happy so long as we don't go back to playing Cork/Hammond/Morgan in the same midfield.

Tough game I think, far tougher than some are thinking. 2-1 Saints with a dubious Lambert penalty winner!

Sharp will start I reckon. Although NA is loyal to Connolly he is to Sharp as well having worked with him before - he knows what Sharp can do and will give him the time to show us.

I think that this is a game to play Guly on the right rather than Puncheon. Pacy wingers are most effective against a team that plays a high defensive line and try to press the opposition.

I can't see Derby playing that way against us, given that they're a mid table team. I think that they'll defend deep and that will give Guly the space to try to play though balls to Lambert and Sharp with a fluid, inter-changing front line.

However, I was surprised that Puncheon didn't start against West Hoof, so he'll probably start this game.

If both Richardson and Butterfield are out, I'd rather see Stephens as a specialist right back play, than Harding out of position. There's always the wildcard option of playing Martin there, I seem to recall him filling in at full back before.

Schneiderlin and Hammond in the middle for me. Cork has had a couple of performances that weren't up to his usual high standard and a game on the bench or in the stands wouldn't do him any harm.

I think Derby will make the mistake of coming to St Marys and trying to play their passing game and give our flair players too much space. 2-0.
