Big John Posted 14 February, 2012 Share Posted 14 February, 2012 I was bitten by a dog on Sunday. A little Jack Russell. Thought it was just a scratch until itstarted bleeding whilst I was driving home, I'd just popped into that store at coxford corner near the old is building. Starting to feel sore, a little swollen and looks like it's bruised. I am a dog lover but I realise now that I should have reported it to the police. Am I too late. sussexsaint Posted 14 February, 2012 Share Posted 14 February, 2012 Seriously , you need antibiotics and a tetanus booster. All dog bites need to be treated seriously - a dogs mouth is full of foulness. trousers Posted 14 February, 2012 Share Posted 14 February, 2012 (edited) I realise now that I should have reported it to the police. Am I too late. No. Needs reporting. My son was bitten by a dog a few years ago. Reported it (I got the registration number of the owners' car) and the police phoned back a couple of days later to say they had paid them a visit and issued a formal warning. Dr Who? Posted 14 February, 2012 Share Posted 14 February, 2012 You should have confronted the dog at the time, or reported it to the nearest steward, not asking for advice two days after the event. Dog biting is not saintly!
Dr Who? Posted 14 February, 2012 Share Posted 14 February, 2012 Seriously get yourself along to the Shirley walk in centre, and up to you if you report the dog. I love dogs, but next time it could be a child that gets attacked by it.

Whitey Grandad Posted 14 February, 2012 Share Posted 14 February, 2012 Get it checked out quickly. You don't want septicaemia, that'll kill you in hours. The fact that it bled is a good sign.
sussexsaint Posted 14 February, 2012 Share Posted 14 February, 2012 It isn't to be honest it means the injury was deep enough to contaminate the deeper tissues and makes the chance of septicaemia / cellulitis higher

Dogs shouldn't be in shops, it's against the law. You can sue everybody concerned if the dog was actually in the shop, the owner of the dog and the owner of the shop. It was a very useful place which is probably why they closed it. Took a lot of load off the local GPs.

SW17James Posted 14 February, 2012 Share Posted 14 February, 2012 I never usually post on here, but get yourself to the docs immediately. Nearly lost my girlfriend to a dog bite a few years ago. Seemed innocuous at first, but after 24 hours developed into chronic septicaemia and had her in hospital for a week very, very seriously ill. Sorry if it seems dramatic or alarmist, but experience proves it's worth erring on the side of caution.

Sorry not a funny or witty post but please go and see your doc or go to a/e I got bitten by a cat a year ago, did nothing about it and my hand swelled up like a grapefruit. Took two courses of antibiotics to cure it. Just fyi according to doc, in terms of nasties in the mouth, human bites are worse than either dog or cat bites.
