Window Cleaner Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 Mick McCarthy sacked. No surprise there. no indeed, totally inept in the transfer market, must have bought more players and failed to get anything out of them, given them away at knockdown prices only to see them perform for another PL side than any other manager. Sheaf Saint Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 The only surprise is that he has lasted this long. He may have a lot of experience but he seems to have a very negative outlook and comes across as yet another excuse-maker, just like Clotterill. This Charming Man Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 I know a couple of Wolves lads from England games and they're over the moon about this. Said he'd totally lost the plot in recent months.

Saint-Armstrong Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 I liked him, and still don't feel it is solely his fault. Wolves fans on the whole will tell you, he's done great for them. Several saying he's given them the best 6 years they've had as a Wolves fan. I just feel they need someone fresh with new ideas. Not another over 50 manager who is permanently in and out of jobs. (Bruce, Warnock, Curbishley although not in and out of jobs) Obviously it's different to me as an onlooker, but I'd look at younger managers with potential. If they keep 'em up, all is good. If not, time for a bloody good clear out and freshen things up at Wolves. So I'm going to chuck three names in the hat: Lee Clark, Eddie Howe and Nigel Clough. Maybe even Dougie Freedman? Maggie May Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 Hope they aren't making plans for Nigel.
SuperMikey Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 He's been brilliant for Wolves since he's been there. A lack of fresh ideas and investment in quality players has seen the team stagnate in the last 2 or 3 years, but I think he can be pretty proud of what he did at that club. He'll probably wait til Trappatoni retires after the Euros this summer and nab the Ireland job back i'd say.

SuperMikey Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 Warnock....? I was thinking that too. Steve Bruce will probably be first choice given he's got more Premiership management experience.

paulsfc Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 Hardly surprising he's been sacked. He is one of those managers who viewed success in the prem as finishing 17th every year despite spending a few quid (Doyle and Fletcher spring to mind). If I was a Wolves fan I'd be looking at how Swansea and Norwich seem to be coping so much better already and it's probably a lot down to attitude. If your manager thinks 17th is acceptable, the players know they can lose around half their games and a negative attitude could creep in. I would put Bruce & Warnock in the same category of negative thinking as Mcarthy so Wolves should stay clear. A bright young up & coming manager is the way forward to freshen it up. The bottom half of the premier league is full of total p*ss and every team is beatable, especially by a team that's been in the prem for a few years. The players just need to be made to believe they can do it. It shouldn't be hard to get Wolves out of trouble
