Bad Wolf Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Is it being given to Sharp then? Because all the sites still have it down as Sharp's and the highlights clearly say Sharp's first for the club. Looked like an own goal to me.
daveygwyatt Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 wasnt an own goal. Was a fluke but not an own goal. went in of his left foot.
Window Cleaner Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 wasnt an own goal. Was a fluke but not an own goal. went in of his left foot. no it didn't,went in off the defender's knee. Can't see that Sharp touches the ball in any way at all. Plenty of angles to judge from on AAC.
daveygwyatt Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Not what I sw on sky today, angle clearly shows Sharp bring it down on his right, hits his left and trickled in. wathced it back several times.
Crazy Diamond Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 no it didn't,went in off the defender's knee. Can't see that Sharp touches the ball in any way at all. Plenty of angles to judge from on AAC. This.

niceandfriendly Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Not what I sw on sky today, angle clearly shows Sharp bring it down on his right, hits his left and trickled in. wathced it back several times. Have a look on Saints player. Very, very clear own goal. But in a way I hope it gets given to Sharp.
Crazy Diamond Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Ben Mee was very good for us yesterday wasn't he!
Window Cleaner Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Ben Mee was very good for us yesterday wasn't he! is he one of the 2 Citeh loanees, with Trippier??
Crazy Diamond Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 is he one of the 2 Citeh loanees, with Trippier?? I think Mee signed up permanently in January, as did Trippier.
daveygwyatt Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Seems I must have it wrong then only seen it on sky, must get my glasses checked
Glasgow_Saint Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Watched the video 1,000 times..... Still unsure
Window Cleaner Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Watched the video 1,000 times..... Still unsure About what??The only debatable point is whether the ball brushes Sharp's foot or not.The ball is turned into the net by Mee,if it misses his leg it will go wide.
Window Cleaner Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Sharp or OG well it's an own goal. If Sharp needs to claim it to get his counter running so be it, but that's an autogol.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 well it's an own goal. If Sharp needs to claim it to get his counter running so be it, but that's an autogol. Why are u slagging off sharp? Ffs
Window Cleaner Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Why are u slagging off sharp? Ffs I'm not, but it's an evident OG, Lambert has about as much right to claim it as Sharp. Don't see why there's all the discussion really.
dronskisaint Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 As Sharp says...he might as well claim it because Mee won't want it! I couldn't see yesterday as I was the opposite end but Saints player indicates an own goal...but do I care? Not a bit
Dimond Geezer Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Yesterday I thought it wa an og, because I didn't think Sharp touched it. After seeing it on The FL Show, it looks like a fluke, but Sharps goal, whether it hit the defender or not, Sharp had directed it on target & it may have got deflected. I'm pretty sure it's only given as an og if the initial shot was off target & the deflection alters the path into the goal.
Gemmel Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Chaplow tweeted last night that it should be illegal for Sharp to claim that goal. Sharp tweeted back, that chaplow was only sulking (Something like that) because he supports Burnley Looks like he has fitted straight in. Is it just me or is Sharp just a little bit, err um.....fat
Leicestersaint Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Goes down as Sharp's and he can add another couple against WHU on Tuesday.
RedWillie Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 he's just a fat lad from Sheffield....Chaplow tweeted last night that it should be illegal for Sharp to claim that goal. Sharp tweeted back, that chaplow was only sulking (Something like that) because he supports Burnley Looks like he has fitted straight in. Is it just me or is Sharp just a little bit, err um.....fat
RobM Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Sharp is about as fat as Rickie. And that was an OG, it's quite obviously clear on Saints Player that it dips under Sharps foot, bounces, hits the defenders knee and goes in. How you could miss that 1000 times I don't know... should've gone to Specsavers.
Chap in the Chapel Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 From someone who saw it clearly from the Chapel End, it was an own goal.
skintsaint Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 you only have to see Sharps 'celebration' to see its an own goal - esp looking at his celebrations while scoring for Donny.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 From someone who saw it clearly from the Chapel End, it was an own goal. Aye.
Son of Bob Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 I was sat in the Chapel on Saturday and can clarify it was a 100% own goal.
Dr Who? Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Watched the video 1,000 times..... Still unsure Do you watch a lot of things 1000's of times and never come to a conclusion
Dr Who? Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Also do not worry, he will get a hat-trick on Tuesday evening.
Badger Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 Definitely an OG from seeing it on Saints Player.
saints triumph Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 OG definately, but if Sharpe gets the credit I won't be complaning
Professor Posted 12 February, 2012 Posted 12 February, 2012 THIS IS A DISASTER! Right at the start of Billy Sharps' Saints career and it will hang over him for years. In 3 or 4 years time when its thought he has scored his 100th goal for Saints no one will know whether its really his 100th goal or just his 99th goal.

Dog Posted 13 February, 2012 Posted 13 February, 2012 Own goal without a doubt, I was sat behind the goal.
Minty Posted 13 February, 2012 Posted 13 February, 2012 Is it just me or is Sharp just a little bit, err um.....fat Frankly he reminds me of Rickie a bit when he first arrived... clearly a good player, clearly got talent, but can get even better if he works on his fitness even more. And look at Rickie now...
saint si Posted 13 February, 2012 Posted 13 February, 2012 To be fair, part of his game (admittedly based on watching him for 60 minutes) appears to be based around being strong and holding the ball up well, and physique will help that. There were a couple of through balls he took on his chest whilst holding off defenders, that he had no right to get. Very very positive debut I thought (Birmingham doesn't count, given the conditions).

And look at Rickie now... NA did say Sharp had "niggles" but we're working on them.

And look at Rickie now... My thoughts too. Get him on the Rickie diet and he could easily be Prem quality.
Mozz Posted 13 February, 2012 Posted 13 February, 2012 Can't believe that most outlets have given the goal to Sharp. Being that he completely missed the ball Lambert has more of a claim to it then he does. Can't complain at a home debut goal for a new striker if they do leave the goal with him though, takes some pressure off him straight away.
John Boy Saint Posted 13 February, 2012 Posted 13 February, 2012 Deffo Rickies goal seeing as he put on a nice bit of bounce which lightly brushed the hairs on the defenders legs to put off Grant in goal. Sat right in line when Rickie hit it. Sharp would have got it if the defender wasn't in the way but in reality he was a good distance away from it. When the stadium announcer started to speak you thought I have never heard an own goal scorer announced before, and still haven't. When Billy was credited with it over the PA you could see him and the Ref having a joke about it not being his goal.

Sat right in line when Rickie hit it. Sharp would have got it if the defender wasn't in the way but in reality he was a good distance away from it. I was sat directly inline behind the goal and Sharp definitely got a touch on it as he tried to take it across the defender but it struck the defender and went in so definitely an OG.
scotty Posted 13 February, 2012 Posted 13 February, 2012 My thoughts too. Get him on the Rickie diet and he could easily be Prem quality. .....on second thoughts, stfu scotty. Thats too much of an open goal, even for me.....
