Saint_Jonny Posted 12 February, 2012 Share Posted 12 February, 2012 Hardware upgrade I'm afraid matey. What game is it you are trying to run anyway?
Burger Posted 12 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 12 February, 2012 thanks - that;s what i expected. LA Noire
Saint_Jonny Posted 12 February, 2012 Share Posted 12 February, 2012 Ah ok. Well installing a new graphics card is a doddle so you should be ok. And it'll be worth it, LA Noire is a cracking game.
angelman Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 You say it's a doddle. I upgraded my graphics card and then I had to upgrade the power supply as well. Graphics card is easy enough, but the power pack needs a bit more concentration to remember where everything plugs in!!
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 If you have a camera phone why not take a few pictures to aid you? The power leads are obvious because they are either Molex or SATA and the large 20 (?) pin one goes in the only place on the MoBo. Hope this suggestion helps. Burger Posted 13 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 13 February, 2012 Thanks for responses but looks like i need to wait a while before i get to enjoy the game. I've been told: Your current laptop features onboard graphics, in effect handled by the processor, so in order to obtain compatibility with shader model 3.0 you would in fact need to upgrade to a more recent laptop with either a dedicated card that supports this or to one with an onboard facility that offers this support. Saint_Jonny Posted 13 February, 2012 Share Posted 13 February, 2012 Ah didn't realise you were using a laptop. That makes things more determinate then, the only upgrade you can do is a new system, which might not be practical
