If we win the next two.....

....things will be looking very nice indeed. I think we've got a good chance, our last 3 results and performances in the league have been positive. Unbeaten against Cardiff, Birmingham and Burnley, and we were unlucky not to take 7 points instead of the 5 we got out of them. Everyone is fit or very close, and looking confident. I think it's possible.

Matches this week:

WHU - Saints (h), NO MATCH.

Saints - West Ham (a), Derby (h).

Brum - Hull (h), FA CUP.

Cardiff - Peterborough (h), Ipswich (a).

Blackpool - Doncaster (a), FA CUP.

Hull - Birmingham (a), NO MATCH.

Reading - Derby (a), Burnley (h).

A fair few of our promotion rivals will have a backlog of fixtures. We will have played 2 more than WHU, Birmingham and Hull by this time next week. Good opportunity to put some pressure back on them.

Agreed, a lot of people speaking of yesterday as the potential turning point (possibly influenced by the Millwall performance/result), but I reckon we may well look at Cardiff more in this regard come the end of the season.

We've played each of those three when they've been very much in form as well.

Amazing how Boro have dropped like a stone in recent weeks. I never thought they were that good anyway, but it shows how much can change in so little time.

I think Reading and Wham will be our closest challengers. I'm not writing off Cardiff or Brum, but I don't see them being as strong. Not sure what it is about a great cup result which seems to derail some teams. 2 years ago Leeds were top, then knocked Man Utd out the Cup at OT and couldn't buy a win for weeks afterwards. Last year Brum were a mid table Prem team, won the League Cup and got relegated. Now Cardiff are in the final they have 1 point from 3 league games since. I'm not saying that form will extrapolate accross the rest of the season, but they've certainly had a bit of a hangover from the semi against Palace.

Yes they will at that point in time, but who knows what will happen in the next two games or the next two. Our season won't be won this Tuesday and Saturday .

I know this, just going with Nigel's positivity slant on things after the 'if we lose the next two' thread.

The chasing pack has been catching up very quickly, and now is a good chance to put some pressure on them by getting points on the board while they're not playing.

Saints, Wham, Cardiff, Brum, Reading, Blackpool, Hull and Leicester are all much better than Brighton. I can't see them being in the mix.

true, but theyve been creeping up the table these last few weeks. Anyway, still expect us to be 1st/2nd, but stranger things have happened...

True, they have had a decent start to 2012 and will be no pushovers, but they haven't really had any tough fixture in that list. The only teams they've played in the top half were Saints (all over them until Lambert was s/o), Leeds (sh*te recently) and Leicester (the definition of inconsistency)

What do we reckon, then...? Can anyone put that in some form of graph order so it'll be easier to make predictions and see how we think we both might dovetail from 1st/2nd (or worse!)?

what a ridiculous thread.. What happens if we lose the next two?

Why is it ridiculous? Nothing wrong with speculating about hypothetical situations, it's what keeps us all logging on here! If you think it's a silly thread, then don't post on it!

If we can get the 6 points this week it would be interesting to see how we fare, seeing as we'll be in the opposite situation form this time last season, when we were behind Huddersfield and the like but with games in hand. Different sort of pressure, let's hope we can do it!

Nob.

why?

Because we cant lose two in a row?

Because someone dares to say something that isn't 'happy clappy, we are going to win this league'?

Because you are unable to string a sentence together (let alone a reasoned argument) so resort to words you can't even spell?

err, reckon I'll go with the last one...
