If we lost the next two.....

Assuming the worst scenerio, if we lost today and at WHU and went third or fourth, would accept that we have screwed it up and hope for the play offs?

No.

What if we won our next 2 and our rivals lost their next 2 after that?

If we win the next two, does that mean we're sure to win the league? Same logic.

This forum has loads of 'waste of time' threads, I mean whats the difference on what people think they will feel like at 5pm or what Guly has done today, what you would think if we lost the last two games, dont really understand your point?

And what Adkins Out thread did I start? I simply put it out, that if you have someone doing a good job but then someone comes along with an amzing track record at the same job, would you take him on, in the same way as we do with players all the time. Why is it not the same with managers? It transpired that everyone would not swap Capello for Adkins, fair enough and no one would swap Messi for Lambert, which is what surprised me.

Hope that clarifies my 'sheer audacity' to start a thread!

yeah, probably! Its that tight eh?

Fantastic optimism, so if we beat West Ham on Tuesday we've won the league. Good times, the players will welcome the break for the rest of the season I'm sure, knowing they don't have to do anything else.

You do realise the previous five seasons points tally for the team in seventeenth place is 56, 54, 54, 55 and 56. An average of 55 points.

Guess how many points we have now?

So if we lose every single game between now and the end of the season, it'd doable? Dalek is in with a shout there...

If you assume that for each remaining match that there's a 33% chance of a win, 33% chance of a draw and 33% of a defeat (which is rather pessimistic analysis...), then:

The chance of us losing the next eight games is a tiny 0.014%. The chance of us losing all the remaining 16 games is 0.00000002 % (a one in five billion chance...that's 357 times as unlikely as hitting the national lottery jackpot)

Even if you are a "wrist-slashing" depressive and you think that for each upcoming game, Saints are a 90% shot to lose - it is only an 18.5% chance that we will lose all 16 remaining league games.

In short, the chances of Saints finishing 17th or worse are so vanishingly small as to be nearly impossible to measure.

This was the thread I was talking about. Moreover, the post about how you thought if Capello was on the market you'd get rid of Adkins even though he is doing a superb job.

My point was, what's the point of looking on the negative side of matters. Say we did lose yesterday and do on Tuesday, why right off automatic promotion chances based on two games out of a possible 46. That was my point about starting absurd threads. HTH

Well, firstly it wouldn't be two from 46, it would two from sixteen (i think thats how many we had left b4 yesterday), so that would put a perspective on it, and more so because it would continue to poor vein of form.

And secondly, we cant question? All, threads have to be positive, even when we are losing?

and finally, how many players have we superseeded? Dickson was doing a good job but now we have better players, what is the difference? And barnard etc.
