Thanks for the messages of support for my officer assaulted at Soton/Millwall match this week. He's been discharged from hosp and recovering

I hope his shoulder is ok.

I don't know, not my place to comment. Just know they are Millwall fans. That's all.

Have they been to Soton games before? Remember two fellas who fit the age profiles were at Cardiff singing 'wall songs, saying they were 'wall fans etc. Dont know if they were legit or just being mongs.

Blame Window Cleaner, he's the one struggling to come to grips with people living away from the team they support.

Not struggling really, just bemused, I mean I could see them supporting Pompey or Arse or Chelsea but Millwall??

Guess they have some sort of tie to the place, shipped out on some London overspill plan perhaps.

Why so ?? Half of Basingstoke and Andover residents are Londoners shipped out when London cleared it's East End.

et not many of them support Millwall though....West Ham maybe.

I live in Andover and after Saints, Spurs and Arsenal are by far the best supported teams - I mean in terms of fans who go to games. Pub bores don't count.

I imagine they did some ghastly act like put their hand on their shoulder, or touched their arm. The kind of thing you would get away with if it happened on the High St.

the copper was taken to SGH with a suspected broken jaw. I know someone who witnessed it and they said the cracking noise the blow made was horrible..:scared:......... the fact that he has been released from hospital so quickly hopefully points to the injury not being as severe as at first thought.

In my close group of mates (about 10 of us) 8 are West Ham, 1 Moan Utd, and then there is me. (Unfortunately.)

From Daily Echo:

"Lee Pinnick, 49, of Copse Road, Southampton was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer and a further charge of attempting to gain entry to a football ground while drunk."

Jesus if they actually enforced the rule of not being able to attend a football match when drunk, imagine our attendance - 4k tops!!

"Drunk - affected by alcohol to the extent of losing control of oneself".

Why do you think it is "disusting" that people in the catagory above should not be allowed to mix with thousands of other paying supporters (including women and children), ruining their day's entertainment?

I have supported Saints all my adult life, and whilst I may enjoy a beer or three before a match, I have never felt the need to be off my trolley in order to enjoy a game.

A few weeks ago I was made to walk across the Northam car park in a straight line with a mate becuase they could smell alcohol on my breath. Was pretty unbelieveable! I had 1 or 2 pints. If they asked me to do that most weeks I'd be all over the place.

You obviously can't hold your drink if you can't remember if it was 1 or 2 drinks :scared: ;)

So you've never had a little bit too much to drink in a public setting? Going by your theory, people shouldn't be allowed to get drunk in pubs...

Do you think that a 3 year banning order is a perfectly acceptable punishment for this heinous crime?

So is it OK to use terms such as "mong" to describe disabled people?

They are not disabled, they are brain damaged. The people who use that word on here surely would be fine in using the word 'Joey' and 'Spasmo', yeah? Its the same thing, no?

Like, we have some right Spasmo's on this thread..

I know a lot more Chelsea fans that go to games in Andover than Arsenal.

Must be pretty close though.

Of course I have been drunk before. How does my theory relate to pubs? Why should you, I, or anyone have to suffer people who cannot control their actions to due excessive alcohol intake? Especially when we have paid good money to attend a sporting event, which is complately different to being in a pub.

A 3 year ban is certainly an OTT punishment, but that doesnt make the relevant law being broken a 'disgusting' one.

I have actually been trying to erase that era from my memory! But, fortunately, I was stationed away from the UK for most of that time-frame. However, yes, that was the period when I needed some dutch-courage to attend a match (but I can never recall having so much that I lost control of myself).
