Noodles34 Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 If Nigel is not the man, someone is now available with an impeccable 'club' track record on the market now. Come on then NC, lets see what you are made of now...
Dr Who? Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 We have one of the best english managers in the country at the moment.
Noodles34 Posted 8 February, 2012 Author Posted 8 February, 2012 Sorry, but if by the slightest miracle Capello was interested, I'd boot just about anyone out of the door (including NA) to make way for him (at club level).
Saint Billy Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 As badly as saints are playing at the moment I still have every faith in NA and long may he manage us.
Noodles34 Posted 8 February, 2012 Author Posted 8 February, 2012 Director of football....? Surely that would be Martin Johnson?
david in sweden Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 If Nigel is not the man, someone is now available with an impeccable 'club' track record on the market now. Come on then NC, lets see what you are made of now... Is it really necessary to start a thread like this one ..? After winning promotion last season, and heading the table for almost half of this ...are you REALLY so upset about our "blip" that you seriously want to to replace Nigel Adkins?. Where were you when we were breaking all those records in 2011?....nothing is forever. When we lost the Brighton game ...we had 13 players unavailable for various reasons (according to NA's post match interview that day)....now that most of them are nearing match fitness, I look forward to..... a revival of the Saints . ...Oh ye of little faith .
CanadaSaint Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 I thought this was a joke thread until I read this: Sorry, but if by the slightest miracle Capello was interested, I'd boot just about anyone out of the door (including NA) to make way for him (at club level). Now I know it is.

Listen, if something can improve you then why not? Your old car might be great, realible, will get you there in the end and your okay with, sometimes it lets you down but hey, thats life. But then someone offers you a F40! What are you going to do? So whats different? Would you trade in Ricky Lambert for Lionel Messi? Seriously, would you? I reckon 9 out of 10 Saints fans would, so wtf is the difference with a manager? I take absolutely nothing away from from NA, i am fully behind him and I am thinking (and hoping) he will turn it around and I hope NC backs him for at least the rest of the season, but.... (see above)
Noodles34 Posted 8 February, 2012 Author Posted 8 February, 2012 Very sensible, a man with zero English club experience who has probably never watched a championship match, knows fck all about our players or rivals and has little interest in the country other than money. Besides, all his success has come with huge clubs. While it would be fascinating to see what big club managers could do elsewhere, it's not an experiment I'd want here. Massive media attention, over the top expectation, wasted money and no doubt awful results. But I'd love to see Mourinho at a league 2 club or something. Completely different challenge building a club than bringing success to an already massive one. Both impressive in their own ways. So you have just clearly contradicted yourself?
Northant Saint Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 Has anyone considered that Adkins could be a candidate for the England job?
Dalek2003 Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 This has to be the most stupid thread I have read for a long while. Ditching NA before the end of the season is absurd. Even if we miss promotion he needs another year. We are building and need to push on, we have had enough of chopping and changing.
T.REX Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 This kind of thing annoys me (like with the Lambert thread a few weeks ago). As fans we bemoan players and managers for showing a lack of loyalty- but it works both ways. Adkins won us promotion last year (which is something i hadn't experienced in my lifetime) and this season got us producing some of the best football i've seen saints play. I know it's a 'results-based business' but doesn't that count for anything?
patred44 Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 Has anyone considered that Adkins could be a candidate for the England job? no way good enough or experienced enough.. that's Martin O'Neills job http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12016/7480680/Pulis-tips-O-Neill-for-England
Micky Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 I've see much less farcicle threads locked a whole lot quicker.
kwsaint Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 This thread is, quite frankly, ridiculous. I've started stupid threads in my time but this one gets my vote for "Most idiotic thread of the year" award

I take absolutely nothing away from from NA, i am fully behind him and I am thinking (and hoping) he will turn it around and I hope NC backs him for at least the rest of the season, but.... (see above) the difference with the manager (as you put it) is that the right man motivates and encourages the team in a positive way. We've had too many of the other sort in the last 10 years. Any team of players - even a good one - without the right manager...... is like an orchestra without a conductor. Listen to NA in some interviews and he makes Lawrie McMenemy sound like Arsene Wenger. The man is total football ! The fact that the players miss open goals, fail to make clearances isn't the managers fault... How many shots has Lambert missed this season ?...but he is still top scorer in this league. Looking at his previous record (before Saints) no-one in the World could have forseen the success he's had by being the right man in the right team with the right manager(s).... bearing in mind AP signed him in the first place.. . Although it may sound daft to some ..there's no guarantee that Messi would wipe the floor in the Championship ! . Look at last seasons two biggest deals ...Torres to Chelsea and Andy Carroll to Liverpool ..and they hardly scored half-a-dozen goals between them this season. Sure.. NA hasn't done everything right, but he seems to be picking the team that most people would agree on....and he can't play in every position himself. What should he do?... hit the players with a stick if they make a mistake. Drop them for 3 games when they don't score? They can get that treatment from a red card suspension. I'm disappointed at the recent " blip" but i don't expect it to affect the over all progress and we're still on line for promotion. AND I certainly hope that NC has more patience than supporting NA .till the end of the season...He's the best motivator I've seen..in any club in the last 30 years. I know it's a 'results-based business' but doesn't that count for anything? This. No need to be loyal if he was rubbish. He isn't. He's one of the most highly rated young managers in the country. He's being tested a bit at the moment - let's show him some support.
harwellsaint Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 how long are your cigarettes, repeat in a footy type chantSorry, but if by the slightest miracle Capello was interested, I'd boot just about anyone out of the door (including NA) to make way for him (at club level).
Noodles34 Posted 8 February, 2012 Author Posted 8 February, 2012 how long are your cigarettes, repeat in a footy type chant just debating mate, gets everyone chatting eh! But, Lambert or Messi? Its the same question in a way.
Noodles34 Posted 8 February, 2012 Author Posted 8 February, 2012 again, where? While it would be fascinating to see what big club managers could do elsewhere, it's not an experiment I'd want here. He doesn't want it to happen here. But would find it interesting to watch what would happen if someone like Mourinho took on the challenge of a League 2 club. (as would I) Simple enough.
S-Clarke Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 The fact NA's replacement is even being debated about is utter moronic.
hypochondriac Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 The fact NA's replacement is even being debated about is utter moronic. Although clearly that is just a moronic one or two.
S-Clarke Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 Although clearly that is just a moronic one or two. Yeh - didn't mean everyone on here, was directing that at the OP really. Just beggars belief sometimes. A few bad results and all must change, right away!!!!!!!
trousers Posted 8 February, 2012 Posted 8 February, 2012 Has anyone considered that Adkins could be a candidate for the England job? It crossed my mind....albeit briefly
Noodles34 Posted 8 February, 2012 Author Posted 8 February, 2012 (edited) its not a a thread about na going. There is already one about that. We can talk about replacing full backs with better players etc but not about better managers. Has Connelly done anything wrong? But we have Sharp now, because he is better.
