dobbo Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Hmmm, not sure I like that. They will be rested for our game with them on Tuesday now. That said, we could go into the game riding high on the back of a 4-0 win against Burnley...you heard it here first... And we could be top again come Tuesday night!!! Cascadia Saint Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Ah that well known Bangkok based skate - Bang Krupt. Nice one Prob miss 1st half of match thread tonight Sash shirt wearing day for Sky Sports @ golf then beers. Tough job today for me - I'm manning the ack ack guns to shoot down any more dodgy balloons. Tough game, REALLY need a win. Anything but a win will plunge view of our football hopes into an Alpine-esque view. I'll certainly start to get worried. Will Sharp & Lambert have had time to understand each other up front? If they have then could be fun. If they are still getting to know each other..... Bloody hell, they're a bit touchy over there. I've been 'deleted' 3 times, not banned but outright deleted. All i did was post on about 11 different threads in the middle of the night. They have since tracked down my 'real identity' on here, and they have blocked 2 or 3 ip addresses. I didn't know they possessed such a work ethic, maybe if they could apply it to attending games they might make some money...

Neil Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Davies Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox Puncheon Hammond Cork Lallana Lambert Sharp As long as Lambert and Sharp are up front, that is the main thing. It would be criminal if we don't create the chances for Lambert and Sharp to win the game. Game seems to have taken on more significance with Hammers PPd, chance to go top on Tuesday now! COYR! landford.saint Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Sorry it is my fault our form since Christmas has nose dived. Kids brought me a new shirt and I have worn it to all homestches since then. Mrs LS has banned me from wearing it today, and so I'm going back to wearing the successful sash that I wore last half of last season and first half of this. We will win today and be back on form. Dont worry normal service is restored.
West End Saint Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Fingers crossed we get back to winning ways Burnley are a good side but we should have more than enough, we have to make St Marys back into the fortress it was it feels like ages since we last won. Looking forward to seeing Sharp & Lambo up front I hope the full backs get some good crosses if they get the service you feel confident 1 of them will score COYS
Saint_clark Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Will be interesting to see how Falque turns out! He has yet to have a decent run. However I do question some of the transfers made by Adkins, who seems to coach very well and run a good ship (or bus ) but his transfer selections do sometimes leave a bit to desire. I cite the likes of Stephens, N'Guesson, Forte etc. none of whom improved the team or established a real presence. Hoivelled, Cork and Guly have been better although Cork seems to be fading, Guly runs hot and cold and Hoivelled was actually our third or fourth choice! Stephens, N'Guessan and Forte all did the job they were brought in to do. Hooiveld and Cork have been brilliant - and Guly wasn't even Adkins signing so no idea why you're including him. Not sure the first three really improved us and none established a place in the team even in league 1 Guly actually is one of our better signings and has made the team and scored 11 goals though tends to be a tad inconsistent at times he can turn on the class as v boro As I said Hooiveld was not our first choice. Cork started off great but has faded recently I really hope, Lee Sharp and Falque do the business! I am wishing for it as much as anyone and the next 10 games or so should tell Edited 11 February, 2012 by Saint Without a Halo
DrunkenSaint Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Rickie Lambert and Billy Sharp will score more league goals than Rodriguez and Austin, between now and the rest of the season. If the defence is up to scratch, then we may still finish top two. Not if the midfield does not provide them with the chances. In recent games our strikers have not cut it upfront due to the lack of service, millwall game was better but our defence let us down. Today id go foe something different although im not sure if it suits sharp. -------------------Davis------------------- Richardson---Fonte---Martin/Jos-----Harding --------------------Cork------------------- ------------Morgan------Puncheon--------- -----Lallana-------------------Sharp/Lee--- -------------------Lambo------------------ Subs: Bart, Jos/Martin, Hammond Sharp/Lee, De Ridder As i said im not sure if Sharp is that type of player to help out the midfield when needed but we do have a good team for this type of formation, gives us width when needed and players in the box when attacking and packing the midfield should help us win that battle and if you win the midfield battle you win the game most of the time anyway. for_heaven's_Saint Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 If one of the strikers was going to play slightly further forward than the other I'd say it'd be more likely to be Sharp. Lambert seemed to be playing a bit deeper against Millwall and it would allow him to pull the full backs wide (as he likes to do) whilst leaving a danger man, in the form of Sharp, in the middle. derry Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 I don't get people on here talking about Falque. IMO if he is in the team we are in lots of trouble. On the evidence of the other night Reeves is well ahead of him. Falque had to be taken off after his display in the first half of his debut because he wasn't up to it on the night. I will say he showed nothing to me that we need that could lead to any of Lallana, Puncheon, Guly, DeRidder Hammond, Cork, Schneiderlin, Reeves being left out. Don't know, but if we don't give him any game time i wouldn't be surprised to see him recalled by Spurs. Don't know if Falqué is in contention for an olympic games squad place but should he be then the Spanish FA won't want him getting no action at all.Remember the to-do that we had over that kid from Villa O'Halloran? Window Cleaner Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 True so we must have assumed he will be playing a fair bit! you'd think so but I can't quite see how it's going to happen, can't see him getting on to the bench even, not with Reeves beginning to push for a place. Then again i'm probably completely wrong, he'll probably come on at West Ham when we're 4 down and play a blinder leading to us winning 6-4.Nigel is a bit unfathomable when it comes to the old team sheet. Why I wouldn't even be surprised to see Reeves start today,I might not like it but I wouldn't be surprised. Andy Durman Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 People only do that because Adkins has just signed him, so clearly wants him here playing. Connolly has been here a while, is coming to the end of his career and has been poor for quite a while now. As for proven scorer, well he's proven to score a handful in any league, but he's also proven to not be prolific and will miss chances and disappear in games more often than not. He's an ok player, but he's way down that list. I'd rather Barnard start than him, he may not have played much this season but he was very good last year and helped us get up more than Connolly. People who saw Connolly at Ipswich will know and understand how good he really is.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 I will expect to see Lambert and Sharp up front for certain. Possibly Lee on the bench. If Connolly starts I might start wondering whether Nigel has lost the plot. Even so, this is another defining game - we need to start turning our downward slip around and get a win. Trouble is the bookies see us getting mugged and with a another incompetent performance from the officials possible, it could be a bad day. I hate to say it, but I am not seeing how we can change games in our favour. If they score first, watch the wheels come off. 1-1 best case...1-2 worst case I'm afraid for today.
