Burnley Build-Up Thread

Sadly, I expect us to lose 2-0.

Austin (obviously) and J-Rod, to complete the set of our striker targets scoring against us.

Interesting. I think we will pick up a maximum of 10 points from now until the end of the season and we will be a lot closer to finishing 17th than people just a few weeks ago gave me credit for.

Lets get back to winning ways with a good old fashioned thumping of Burnley at home.

I'd like to see this team if all available:

Davis

Richardson

Fonte

Hooiveld

Fox

Puncheon

Morgan

Cork

Lallana

Lambert

Sharp

Arguably our strongest team of the season so far, and with it being such a huge game I'm fairly confident we'll do it. Just hope Millwall is out of the systems of those who played!

My first visit to St Mary's this season. Tickets have been booked since Christmas. Looking forward to it and think we'e beginning to play our way back into form

(even taking Millwall into account). Think we're going to win this though it's a tough game.

Can anyone recommend a good place to park the car near the ground? I have always used the multi storey and walked down.

May have been mentioned already, but this is our first Saturday 3pm game at home since November 19th (3-0 win against Brighton). I honestly don't think all the early/late kick offs since then have helped us. I know personally I always feel a bit detached at lunchtime and teatime matches, and I'd say that the atmosphere tends to be worse.

Starting Saturday we have a run of games at 'traditional' kick off times, hopefully this will coincide with us coming back into form.

I usually park in the small outside car park next to the Charlotte Place NCP....Compton Walk: http://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/carpark/compton_walk/so15/southampton/

Passionate presser from Gaffer today. Calls for focus and positivity ahead of the last 3 months of season - 17 massive games left. #saintsfc

Following on from his Millwall post-match comments... let's hope some of that passion is transferred across to the players.

Crikey - Lambert and Sharp -v- Rodriguez and Austin. Mouthwatering contest.

0-0 it is then :(

Actually I think we will bounce back on this one. My concern is more about being able to string a run together again. One game at a time I guess, eh Nigel?

Austin will score at least 1.

People always mock me for thinking it's important, but it makes a huge difference, IMO. It IS tougher being on Sky, I have no doubts of that, particularly when in poor form. Adds pressure, attention, lower attendances, opposition wanting to impress on TV as we're usually the favourites. All in all, I hate it. Saturday evenings, Monday nights etc., I don't think it helps players. Many recent games I've said 'if this was 3pm Saturday I think we'd win'. And after predicting several defeats like a miserable bastard, I'm not predicting a win.

I know the top sides in a league have to deal with it, Man Utd rarely play 3pm saturday and it isn't fair on fans and does make it harder for them, but they learn to deal with it. We haven't yet, but we haven't been a successful side very long. Crazy we've gone since November for having a 'normal kick off time'. I want to support football, not money and TV. 3pm Saturday is what most football fans look forward to, can we not have it back please? Can Sky and especially ESPN massively fck off?

So your prediction is another loss?

This. If de Ridder is fit I would have him on the bench for his pace.

Speaking today to my mate from Burnley and he says Charlie Austin has been well off form these last few weeks and has missed a fair few 'sitters'. Mate is also confident that Burnley can get a draw and will look to counter attack quickly. He is very worried about Billy Sharp as "he always scores against Burnley".

Davis,

Richardson Fonte Hooveld Fox

Puncheon Cork Morgan Lallana

Lambert Sharp

Subs: bart, Martin, Chaplow, de ridder, lee

When Chaplow fit, rotate with cork.

That would be my starting 11, but would not be surprised to see Connolly start, subs look all wrong. Martin has been excellent in defence but Fox has shown he can play at centre half, so it would make more sense to have Harding on the bench giving you cover for 2/3 positions. Chaplow is way off the mark at present and when has he done a consistent job in the middle? Hammond needs to be there to give Cork and Morgan a breather in the second half or we suffer come the next game. Difficult one for Lee, but can't see us being able to afford the time for him to get to grips with the Championship. De Ridder has earned it for his effort but no way would I leave out Guly with his record, or secondly Connolly.

Hopefully Connolly wont make the squad for the rest of the season - has been terrible for a good few games now and well off it. He should be 5th choice now really behind Lambert, Sharp, Guly and Lee. That said, he'll likely start or at least be on the bench.

Need a win here to get some confidence back and push on to stay in the promotion race for the rest of the year. Another home defeat and I can see us falling away. I have faith though!

I'm sorry but my nan should be infront of Barnard from what i've seen of him this season. I don't think i've seen him control a ball and keep it within 5 yards of himself yet and can probabbly count his completed passed on 2 hands.

If he does play Jos, he's not going to leave Martin off the bench. Fox can cover if necessary but against the threat in the air of Jay-Rod it would be taking a risk.

We've got Trevor Kettle as the referee, quite possibly the worst ref in the Football League. He's worse than Andy D'Urso or Peter Walton :o

We honestly seem to have a terrible ref each week. Who are the football league best refs?

Surely they cannot all be ****e, as that would question more the impossibility of the job or the unyielding nature of us football fans.

For me, I accept that refs will get decisions wrong, not see things and be inconsistent (they are human beings not robots after all). What drives me nuts though is seeing them influenced by players or the crowd.

Wow, we really do have a strong squad and cover in all positions if only Butterfield and Seaborne are out:

Kelv

Bart

Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox

Stephens Martin Jaidi Harding

Puncheon Morgan Cork Lallana

De Ridder Hammond Chaplow Falque

Guly Reeves Ward-Prowse Holmes

Lambert Sharp

Lee Connolly

Barnard

It's a shame you can only put 11 players out!
