Saint_clark Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Not too fussed. Better performance by the sounds of it. Anyone outside Southampton would describe it as the "magic of the cup", but i'm sure there are plenty of reasons why our season is now over.
Saints foreva Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Conceding 3 goals to a Millwall side without their star striker is very poor. Worried about Saturday now, can't imagine that defence will change much other than Fox for Harding.
Mattio Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Glad it didn't go into extra time and that we won't be playing the extra games but hopefully it doesn't get the players heads down.
LaptopSaint Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Burnley. But can we buy a win at the moment? COYR.
DG Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 It's only the cup and we've had injuries/new signings/etc but the home losses and 3 wins in 13 is very worrying now.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Not too fussed. Better performance by the sounds of it. Anyone outside Southampton would describe it as the "magic of the cup", but i'm sure there are plenty of reasons why our season is now over. Follow the thread and you will see all of them:rolleyes:
Stepgar Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Not fussed but the worrying thing is there were a lot of "first teamers" in that squad. Certainy a first team back four. We definitively need to sharpen up our game.
dubai_phil Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Meh at least I get to see a meaningful game in 10 days or so. And get to bed at a not otally stupid time. Both of which stop me typing FFS what is going on? 19th in the form league.
Dalek2003 Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Good job it was a cup tie. Our form in the last 8 is relegation form.
Asaint4ever Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 am i the only one gutted? i wanted a cup run ffs we had bolton at home? we could had made the quaters..............
gjphilsaint Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 More importantly "Fortress St Marys" has lost its shine. Teams are no longer scared to travel doen here... we need to get this winning mentality back..forget the cup by all means,, but get that mentality back...quick!!!
S-Clarke Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 I just hope this result doesn't kill our confidence, because we had a nice little unbeaten run going. Big big game on Saturday against a much much better team than Milwall, and they caused us too many problems for my liking IMO - against pretty much our first team backline. Our results at the mo aren't good enough though if we're honest, 2 wins in 11 I think.
Ampersound Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 At least Chappers had a run out to blow out those cobwebs
Dalek2003 Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Meh at least I get to see a meaningful game in 10 days or so. And get to bed at a not otally stupid time. Both of which stop me typing FFS what is going on? 19th in the form league. So, a finish of 17th would be about right !
Ampersound Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Also should be the last game for Bart for a while... phew
ericofarabia Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Burnley. But can we buy a win at the moment? COYR. We'll really need to up our game - Burnley have won 8 away games already this season. Eeeek
SNSUN Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Meh. It's a cup we obviously weren't interested in, and it sounds like we lost to a cracking strike. Look for the positives, learn from the negatives, draw a line under it, and move on.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Good job it was a cup tie. Our form in the last 8 is relegation form. we will finish 17th
S-Clarke Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Also should be the last game for Bart for a while... phew are you stupid or something? He kept us in that game before their winner.
geoffnut Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Very poor to concede 3 goals at home. Where will the next win come from?
Joesaint Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Gutted, hate loosing esp when we should be winning. Come on NA
sotonist Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Well, we scored a couple at least. We're running out of excuses for the results.
Wildgoose Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 I'm not too worried as long as we can beat Burnley on Saturday with our strongest team. Looking forward to it. May well be a blessing in disguise and focus us totally on the League. I'd take that every time!
AndyD Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Sat listening and genuinely not fussed about the FA Cup - we now have to beat Burnley, Derby and Watford this month. Sharp will start now. He could prove to be the difference.
James Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 This is getting worrying - we're playing badly and can't buy a win whilst Brum are going like a freight train. People will say its only the cup but this will damage confidence. For god sake Adkins sort it out and quickly.
SNOWY Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 not bothered about the fa cup but not good for confidence. Heck of a week coming up.
Dr Who? Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Said before the game it would be nice to go through, but as long as we win on Sat all will be forgiven!
View From The Top Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Thank fu ck for that. It means that the Derby game isn't re-arranged to mid-week. FAC - Meh.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 We're in big trouble. yep and and still 2nd
Dr Who? Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Said before the game it would be nice to go through, but as long as we win on Sat all will be forgiven! Oh and next Tuesday.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 I dont give a **** about the FA cup... Need to stop the rut though!!! this is the test for NA!!
Saint_clark Posted 7 February, 2012 Author Posted 7 February, 2012 Also should be the last game for Bart for a while... phew Not sure why you're saying that, considering without his saves we would have lost about 6-2.
Micky Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Not quite so optimistic tbh. If this is still being classed as a blip I would hate to see a complete slump in form. The wheels are well and truely off, our form is shyte - worrying times if you were looking for promotion this year.
Legod Third Coming Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 It's not about the cup versus league. It's about CONFIDENCE. We are not winning football games. Not sure if anyone else has noticed that?
CWD Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 We need to improve very quickly. I can't believe the dramatic slump in our home form since Blackpool. I'm finding myself less confident about getting back to our early season form with every game that passes. Concerned.
S-Clarke Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Meh. It's a cup we obviously weren't interested in, and it sounds like we lost to a cracking strike. Look for the positives, learn from the negatives, draw a line under it, and move on. But it's still a result that would given us a kick - we now go into a big game against Burnley on a downer, loosing a last min goal is a sickener for confidence. Looking forward to Saturday, but nervous as to how easy Millwall caused us problems against our first choice backline really. Can't really ignore our results at the mo, the cold hard fact is 2 wins out of 11 - tonight was a great chance to get a win on the board
bjk Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 What the hell has happened to Saints. Its only a matter of time until we drop out of the top 2 and end up struggling to make the play offs at this rate.
