FarehamRed Posted 7 February, 2012 Share Posted 7 February, 2012 It's one of those where everyone thinks he's *probably* guilty, but it hasn't been proven beyond reasonable doubt. I think there's some stat that say 90% of cases heard before a jury get off.
buctootim Posted 7 February, 2012 Share Posted 7 February, 2012 are creationists allowed on jurys? Serious question, because they openly admit they don't believe in 'evidence', so that's dubious ground too. Even if they arent creationists, a sizeable part of the population - at lweast 1 in 12 - are irrational, they have a 'feeling' or 'belief' and wont be swayed by what the evidence says. If you get one of those people on a jury, stuck in their rut when the rest of the jury want to go home and see their kids / earn some money then people often cave in. FarehamRed Posted 7 February, 2012 Share Posted 7 February, 2012 You inspired me to look it up...and you're right, it's ********. In 90% the jury actually makes a decision - conviction rates vary according the to crime. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/feb/17/juries-report-main-findings
thefunkygibbons Posted 7 February, 2012 Share Posted 7 February, 2012 Not sure, the jury did not just hear the words that we know from the transcript but they also saw the body language To my way of thinking, if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is a duck Guilty
scotty Posted 7 February, 2012 Share Posted 7 February, 2012 You can't send the next England Manager dahn fer facks sake!!! Thats funny, but also relevant. If Arry goes in for a stretch he'll obviously be out of the running, which means the FA will have to go looking for another England manager in July. Everyone is saying that this time it has to be an Englishman, so they'll be looking for a manager with good form....up and coming....reasonable amount of experience, ambitious but not jaded....proven track record of promotions........ffs, I can see it coming. Redknapp will get off though, so no need to worry.

Saint J 77 Posted 7 February, 2012 Share Posted 7 February, 2012 Pearcesport James PearceEverybody called back into court. No light signal from the jury so looks like jury will be sent home for the night Sounds like the Jury are split at this moment in time. I'm sure justice will NOT prevail. He will get away with it I'm sure. There is to much invested in him at spurs and as a possible England manager for justice to actually happen here. Ha ha don't know all the ins and outs but the CPS case didn't seem very solid to me,should have just asked them for a voluntary contribution on the sums and left it well alone. Now it's a green light for all sorts of "funds for a portfolio" transactions. Window Cleaner Posted 8 February, 2012 Share Posted 8 February, 2012 Congrats jury, you've been sold a sob story. case was too open to interpretation,no hard evidence, just circumstancial. I guess the fact that Harry and Milan do in fact pay a lot of tax on far far greater sums destroyed all prosecution credibility, not to mention, a News of the World journalist seemed to be a key witness. On the few facts that I know I would have given them the benefit of the doubt and that's all it needs. All this for an offshore account with less than 200k Hmm Look at the bright side. At least some Silks got an earner out of it, 'Arry got his profile raised and we all got some loledy out of the court proceeding tweets. 8 million is a small price to pay for that! Window Cleaner Posted 8 February, 2012 Share Posted 8 February, 2012 Hardly astonishing given the scrapes he's wriggled out of before. I wonder if there were many brown envelopes knocking around the jury room? he wriggles out of scrapes because they're so well set up I expect.Wouldn't surprise me if they set this one up with the intention of being "caught" and somewhere there's the real deal completely hidden from view .Still can't believe that HMRC went to trial with such a flimsy case, perhaps they thought there was more to find as well. I'd better watch out, they'll be after me soon for the 10K loan that I got from my Gran and never paid back.

Obviously relegating a club that had been in the top flight for 27 years counts as an improvement! I think some revisionism has been going on here. Yes, Redknapp did not improve us enough to save us. But the damage done by Lowe and Wrigley was already terminal, imho.
sadoldgit Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Even though he had £6m to spend in keeping us up and brought in rubbish? Redknapp said himself he didn't know why he was at saints and clearly wasn;t bothered about us - his thumbs up to Mandaric proved that after the Poopey drubbing. You have to admire the man's brass neck though for having a pop at the CPS. Cases are only brought to court if they are in the public interesr to do so and there is a realistic chance of a conviction. It was not brought because of he he is as he says (no ego there then). The CPS are accountable for spending public money and have to justify their decsions to prosecute. Sadly the jury system in this country means that many people walk free when they shouldn't. Whether he was guilty of not I don't know, but to pretend that you don't know what you are doing when you live in a mutli million pound house is just laughable. He did a number of the jury and they fell for it. Still back to Alps, nice to see that your hatred for Lowe has been "revised" over the years either.
