Verbal Posted 6 February, 2012 Posted 6 February, 2012 Brilliant. When the second Wailers album came out, I was a 'complaints officer' at Island Records. Just as I joined, the pressing plant lost the plot and pressed line after line of ashtray-shaped vinyl. So I spent an entire summer handwriting letters saying 'sorry, here's another bent album'. All done in a haze of marijuana smoke so thick that the forklift drivers downstairs in the warehouse were banned from driving in the afternoons. After three months of that, it just showed how durable Marley's career was going to be.

Block 5 Posted 6 February, 2012 Posted 6 February, 2012 Bob Marley was the right man in the right place at the right time. He endures as the gateway to good roots reggae.
St Chalet Posted 6 February, 2012 Posted 6 February, 2012 Genius, many an experimental cigarette smoked to Bob's tunes.
Dr Who? Posted 6 February, 2012 Posted 6 February, 2012 Amazing, not my sort of music, but to chill out to nothing better!
SuperMikey Posted 6 February, 2012 Posted 6 February, 2012 A fantastic advertisement for the human race, what a guy. On top of that, he wrote some of the best songs known to man. RIP - I hope there's mary jane in heaven!
Hamilton Saint Posted 6 February, 2012 Posted 6 February, 2012 I've got all his CDs! My favourite is Catch a Fire. Favourite track - "Concrete Jungle".
Sheaf Saint Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Remember seeing this documentary about his life many years ago, and the part about his funeral procession struck me particularly... He went to his grave having earned the love and respect of not just his entire nation, but millions of people around the world. I am struggling to think of anybody else who can claim to have made such a positive impact on so many people. RIP Bob, your legacy lives on...
dinger Posted 7 February, 2012 Posted 7 February, 2012 Bob Marley was the right man in the right place at the right time. He endures as the gateway to good roots reggae. This. The early Lee Perry recordings are cracking though.
