Dark Munster Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 nah...keep 'em alive, but string 'em up. Place a transfer embargo on them until all debts are cleared. Don't even discuss a points deduction until the season's end, otherwise if they know they are going to get relegated they may not give everything between now and the end of the season. And just when they think it's safe....relegate them out of the league (just like what happened to Aldershot FC and Newport County) and THEN still hit them with a -30 point penalty At least that way we get one more derby game in before Crawley Town become our closest rivals, albeit 2 divisions apart as we'll be in the Premiership (and no, I haven't forgotten the our Dorset rivals but I think this time next season Crawley will be above them!) Sounds very tasty. But remember, if their results are expunged West Ham will lose 6 points, others up there will lose 3 or more, but we only lose 1. andymcrowe Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 Here's some thoughts back from a Brummie Saint....first of all the 'positives' - excellent performances from Morgan, Kelvin, Jose, Jack and Aaron. Tough opponents, impossible conditions and the most important things were to retain possession and not take any chances, which we did well. Not so good - we aren't testing keepers enough because the crossing is poor - it's unforgivable to overhit crosses from dead balls and we do it too often. And we seem to want to walk it into the goal - where have all the edge of the box shots gone? Like everyone I'm still puzzled by Lambert's cross instead of shot. But maybe that's why we have so much possession... Biggest disappointment for a Brummie must be the very poor Birmingham support. A city with a population of four or five times that of Southampton should manage far higher crowds for its two biggest clubs and the lack of passion must be a worry. I am old enough to remember standing in crowds of over 52,000 several times in the 1970s and wonder where that passion has gone. Winning the Carling Cup seems to have generated less excitement than the Johnson Paints Trophy did down here and I wonder why that is. It isn't the weather - the situation has been like this for years. Is it the style of football played? Or the relatively huge success of clubs up the road in Manchester or down the road in London? The support, like the lack of success, is a mystery.

cambsaint Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 It seemed to me that given the appalling conditions it would have been a reasonable tactic to try to take advantage of them and see if hard low crosses into the area and shooting when there wasn't an obvious pass on may have given rise to lucky slips, ricochets and have caused confusion. Not pretty but in the conditions possibly well worth a try. We just don't seem to be able to win ugly.
sfc4prem Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 nah, we will. Nah, West Ham will after winning against us with two dubious penalties in the 90th and 90(+6)th minute.

Our final ball is poor at the moment - it's the same choice to the back post every time. We need to mix it up and just occassionally drill it in low and hard - it could go in off anyone! We're a bit like Arsenal - intent on creating the perfect goal rather than realising that just sometimes you can get lucky!

Brummieinhants Posted 7 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 7 February, 2012 Blues wont win the league. Wet Spam will, despite playing Big Sam Hoof****. Ref our poor attendance. I agree. Considering we managed to get 35,000 down to London last season i would like to know where the missing 20k are. Granted some will blame the cold but to be frank its never over 20k in this league and was rarely over 25k in the prem (St Andrews holds 30,005). Essentially i think years of god awful long ball crap served up by our 2 previous managers has sucked the passion out. I however will go every week until either i cant manage due to health or age. Or we go belly up. Our first year up we sold out every week, great crowd, atmosphere fantastic. Like Stoke were a couple of years ago. We are now, sadly, heading the way of Midlesborough. (Attendance wise). Back to finishing places. 1.Wet Spam 2. Saints 3. Reading 4. Blues 5. Cardiff 6. Leicester Blues up through play-offs based on our Europa League one off game go for it attitude! Um, your memory is a little hazy on the Aldershot and Newport things. They weren't "relegated out of the league" as an act of the Football League - Newport finished bottom in a relegation position, fully completing the Division 4 season 1987/8 (albeit with basically a youth team) before going into liquidation midway through their first Conference season, and Aldershot resigned from the league in late March 1992 having been liquidated as a business and weren't relegated. Their record was expunged and all the other other Div 4 teams played a 44 game season. Pretty sure that even ignoring Bournemouth that Reading's still more of a rivalry than Crawley ever will be, too.

Well I hope you do and if Ziggy keeps knocking them in you might win back the fans who've had to put up with several seasons of negative football and several decades of Manc success. I've still got Joe Bradford's autograph, a rosette from the 1931 Cup Final and was there when Francis scored four so still have a soft spot for the Blues. Keep right on. MrMojoRisin Posted 8 February, 2012 Share Posted 8 February, 2012 , we simply didn't have many attempts on goal. Many attempts ????? We didnt have one, I bet there has never been another team in history going for a league title that has failed to register a single shot on or off target. Absoulute sh it and we have been since end of oct
