Dog Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 Never really been into this processed meat, but yesterday I got a craving for corned beef sandwiches, opened the tin up and realised that it must be liquid form to get it into the tin. What is it made from? Is it all the waste off cattle that has been stuck in a blender similar to pork pies. Is it bad for you? Smells like cat food, and i have got them in my pack up! Anyone into this northern fodder?
buctootim Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 Dunno what it is, but its been gentrified. We used to eat it a lot when I was a kid because it was cheap. Supermarket wanted £4 for four slices at the weekend.

Dimond Geezer Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 Have it today in my sandwiches - love it. Lips 'n' lungs, my favourite.
timebomb Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 Absolutely love it. I don't think it is offal but rather brisket that has been salted (corned). Anyway, I don't care if it is "lips n lungs" tastes great! Bu66er, got me craving some now, I'm going to have to go out and buy some - bully beef sarnies! Petersfield Saint Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 Love it!! Only buy it sliced though; too posh for tins in Petersfield!
Dr Who? Posted 6 February, 2012 Share Posted 6 February, 2012 I like it deep fried and sometimes frittered....now that must be good for you.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 7 February, 2012 Share Posted 7 February, 2012 Bloody lovely as corned beef hash. HP sauce and a huge mug of tea. If the hash is for supper, a glass of stout is perfectly acceptable in lieu of the tea.

Durleyfos Posted 7 February, 2012 Share Posted 7 February, 2012 Corned Beef hash is lovely. Mix the corned beef in with mashed potato, stick it all in an ovenproof dish and sprinkle grated cheese over the top (and sliced tomato if you like) and whack it under the grill. Scrummy yumyums.
