If NA picks him.

Where would you play him ? Seems unfair to drop Puncheon currently.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be dropping.

Keep Puncheon fresh for Burnley and it gives Chaplow valuable playing time, win win i think.

As it seems to be a connection between Chaplows absence and our drop in form, I would make way for him in the starting line up. Although Punch is a more gifted player, I think Chaplow is more important considering all variables that come into play during a match.

Chaplow was on good form when he got injured, but he's been built up a bit too much in his absence, which we've always done (we did it with Oakley and Prutton a lot). It'll be good to have him back, on a good day he can make the difference, but don't turn on him too fast if he's not all you've built him up to be in your head. He's had patches of mediocrity in the past too.

This.

He gives his all and helps drive the team on from midfield but he's not some genius whose going to run games for us. He was in the form of his life before he got injured but I'd be surprised if he replicates that again. Still, a very useful player to have.

Hah thought I was the only one who thought that.

Was just about to post a fair few others have above. Chaplow was on a decent little run for us before he got injured, but his impact and ability is being massively over played on here. How many games has he actually even played this year?

Don't think anyone would say he is anything more than neat and tidy on the ball to be fair. It is his energy in closing down opponents, and making runs into space that we miss. He creates so much space for others by doing this it makes everyone better.

I think some of the reaction to him being back from injury and the constant posts about him on here show how much some posters get carried away. He's a decent player who works hard and gets into the box from midfield which we've been missing. Let's not get carried away expecting something that isn't really there.

Where have people been getting carried away? Vast majority of the reaction is people looking forward to him bringing the attributes you've mentioned above yourself. However, I do agree that his return alone doesn't make everything ok again, but it is a big help when no-one else in the squad can replicate what he does.

It's good that Chappers will get some pitch time and welcome back.

Only doubt now is Pardew, he's been missing for quite a few weeks now and it's beginning to show so will be good to get him back in the squad soon.

Surely one of Mr Cortese's smartest moves was to send him on loan to Newcastle to get match experience but he's being wasted up there with an under-achieving PL team, so come on Nicole after your reversal on Puncheon, swallow your pride and find another olive branch.

Guess who's feeling like a first class tit right now?

This is good news.

As we unleash the 'Essex Strikeforce - BillyRicky' on Burnley Saturday, bung in Chappers and it'll be 'BillyRickyDickie'.

And he's doing, very well.

And he ain't a bloomin' thicky ...

;)

So how are we gonna get the Northam signing this then...? :tongue-in-cheek-thingy:

"Billy's Sharp'n'Tricky

Lambo takes the Mickey

Chapper's always Sicky

They're BillyRickyDickie

and they're doing very well"

...maybe you had to be there!

Bring him on for the last 20. Save him for Saturday.... We need him.

And play him on Saturday instead of...?

I wouldn't drop Puncheon atm and a midfield of Lallana, Puncheon, Cork and Schneiderlin is working well. Chaplow should start against Millwall to build him up to fight for a place again.

It's great he's back, although whether he will be firing on all cylinders tomorrow evening remains to be seen. Adkins seems to think he's ready and of course so does Chappers. I hope he's played central with Cork as I would like to see a much more progressive and faster breaking midfield in the first half to link with Lee and I assume Guly (although I would select Sharp if he was available).

.Although I expect Lambert and Lee to be up front, we have had cup games earier in the season with Lallana on the bench to start so why not start with both

Chaplow and Puncheon?

It might be the chance to give Luke Shaw his debut game (as Fox is suspended) and we have already seen Reeves and Ward Prowse in action.

Can't do much else with the back line - unless Jaidi gets a game instead of Fonte / Martin ..

NA has said the Cup is not a priority but everyone has to gets game sometime, and at least it doesn't endanger three points...so let's see what the "B Team " can do !
