alpine_saint Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 Trafalgar-class hunter-killer armed with Tomahawks on the way to the Falkands, along with HMS Dauntless. Clearly telling the Argies not to f**k with us. Hillarious reading them bleating about us making the dispute "aggressive" and "militaristic"... Saintandy666 Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 Well, aren't we making it a little bit more aggressive by sending said Submarine and Ship?

Saint in Paradise Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 Ah but what happens if the UK need to use them against Argentina, will the Americans allow the UK to damage Argentinian property like ships or aircraft or even on the mainland? What the f**k has it got to do with the americans!? They didn't get involved last time!
Saintandy666 Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 "Damned if we do, damned if we don't"... I wasn't disagreeing or agreeing with the stance, merely commenting on Alpine's derisory comment re: Argentinians saying we are becoming more aggressive over the issue. lumuah Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 What the f**k has it got to do with the americans!? They didn't get involved last time! They only provided us with missiles, satellite intelligence, a few other bits and bobs..... They won't help this time though, as Argentina is a more important trading partner than the UK. Saintandy666 Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 What the f**k has it got to do with the americans!? They didn't get involved last time! But the US were quite happy to allow us to pursue our interest. This time however, the indications are that they would be less willing to do so, simply judging by their diplomatic language. The US is quite adaptable and at the moment is changing itself to be a country, not focused on Europe, but more so on Latin America(Brazil is a big power in the making) and Asia. Andrew Neil posted an interesting stat the other day on twitter, that during the past few decades, US percentage of world GDP has not declined... it has stayed constant and Asia's gain has been entirely to the loss of Europe. Times are changing it seems, and perhaps predictions of US demise are premature is they can re-engineer themselves. But anyways, as with most of our Military action, US support is critical. Well they did help on the hush hush 30 years ago but I read a while ago that the UK needs American permission to use those Tomahawk missles, something about the firing codes or something. The UK seems to be in the pocket of the U.S. these days - very sad really. Perhaps you should apply to be the next state and then you would have much more power with the U.S.

sfc1971 Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 Well, aren't we making it a little bit more aggressive by sending said Submarine and Ship? No. There has been a Frigate/Destroyer and 1x Sub based down south for the last 30yrs, I`ts only the Media bigging it up that has changed. And to think some on here think we need to ask the Yanks for a pin to engage our OWN weapons

Also you can bet your bottom dollar there is an additional flight of Typhoons put on rotation out of Ascension Island now.
