Brum V Saints Match Thread!!

SOTONS EAST SIDE

Recommended Posts

Good half considering. But it feels like we're going to dominate possession, create little, pass well despite the snow, then lose 1-0 to a rubbish goal late on! Despite dominating I'd still rather it was called off.
We still have a new ace up our sleeve in Billy Sharp! Time too come on(2nd half) and make yourself a hero son. :D

We've dominated so far- touble is not much room for improvement, where as Brum must get better at some stage.

We need to get an early 2nd half goal that our performance deserves.

Guly or Sharp on for DC?

The close short give and takes seem more effective than the running of DC or Lambo - lots of offsides. = Guly on?

If Adkins wants to take the three points he'll have the balls to replace Connolly with Sharp at half time. We have dominated the match, passed the ball well but are lacking a cutting edge and someone with real presence high up the pitch. just don't think Adkins will have the balls to take the decision.

We've adapted better, but haven't offered anything in the final third. Nice and tidy in the middle, but no punch (excuse the pun).

Need to sharpen up our corners as well, because they have been awful today. Fox has probably been our weakest link in terms of ball retention.

but overall more than satisfied at the mo, we just need to be a bit more Sharp in and around the final third.

Decent first half from Saints considering the conditions, keep playing like that and the chances will come. We're doing the basics right at the moment, moving the ball well and showing good movement. Hopefully a cameo from Sharp in the second half.

is it worth it if we lose lambert or someone to a broken leg? this game would not be on if it wasn't on TV.

this. Even on tv its almost unwatchable. Saints should be in yellow, the red n white shirts blend into the snow. The yellow ball keeps disappearing, and most of the pitch markings are now covered in snow and invisible. Come on Mr Dowd and call it off, and rearrange it for Feb 28th as I'm working in Brum that week.

We really are playing some nice football considering the conditions. Brum don't seem to be able to cope and are resorting to route 1 stuff which fonte and martin are tidying up exceptionally well. Lallana and Punch are the key here seem to be able to turn with ease. Like others have said we need more shots. I think Sharp for DC soon he looks a little flat and keeps getting ruled offside. We can win this! COYRS!

This exactly. Fox has been the only player to consistently fail to maintain the ball which means 9 of 10 outfielders are coping superbly. We're a quicker passing team with better controllers of the ball than birmingham and it's showed for 45 mins. Need to create more though as hard as the conditions are. Brum could grab one against the run of play and take the 3 points. They have an excellent home record to be fair. COYR.. Pull something out 2nd half!

We've played the conditions the best but we need to get more direct.

Would like to see us play more down the middle, get the ball to Adam and Jason and get them to take it into the box a lot more.

Brum have 2 great CHs but they pretty tall and in these conditions their high centre of gravity needs to be exploited.

Would also like to see Billy on at half time for DC.

From what I've seen I think we could nick it tonight.

Yes, we need to score while we're on top (an ongoing problem for us) but the game confirms for me that we're the best team in the division. That's the division's in-form team that we're really dominating - on their on ground.

We have skill and inventiveness, and we use the full width of the pitch. All we're really lacking is the final pass, but we've got plenty on the bench and I'd like to see how they deal with Sharp in their box.
