Dr Who? Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 I was thinking that everyone's first sport would be football as they are on here, but I think I saw a thread a while back, that most people prefer cricket (but not the last few weeks). This got me thinking, what order people liked their sport in. It might not be a top 5, as you might only like one sport, but most people who like football like other sports as well. I just posted on another thread about my hatred for rugby, and I am not excited by the Olympics this summer either. But I do love sport and can list a top 5 that I follow with my favourite team/player. 1. Football, Southampton FC, England 2. Cricket, Hampshire and England 3. Ice Hockey, Guildford Flames, Canada 4. American Football, San Francisco 49ers 5. Darts, phil the power Taylor.
SNSUN Posted 5 February, 2012 Share Posted 5 February, 2012 Besides football, my favourite sport is Snooker. To play AND watch. Loved it since I was a nipper, though I'm still **** at it. Shaun Murphy is my fave player at the moment. I like most sports, I watch the golf or tennis when it's on the box, like any kind of motor racing too. One sport I don't like is Basketball, not sure why. I'm not a massive fan of Rugby either although it is entertaining to watch.

miserableoldgit Posted 5 February, 2012 Share Posted 5 February, 2012 I like watching most sports but I really love Speedway and have done since watching the Saints race at Bannister Court as a kid. We go to the British Speedway GP at the Millenium Stadium every year. Great day out! American Football leaves me colds though. shurlock Posted 5 February, 2012 Share Posted 5 February, 2012 (edited) SFC Used to follow and watch PSG for a bit on account of family but nothing compares with SFC. Really enjoy american football and the Baltimore Ravens in particular- tactically such an immersive and cerebral sport along with the obvious brutality. Cant get into rugby, though. Cricket - was a reasonably good cricketer and got to hang out with the Hampshire first and second XIs a fair bit; but in the last few years only get excited by Test cricket. Will always watch the golf during the majors - the 3rd and 4th days make for fantastic viewing and someone almost always bottles it and has to fight his demons. Otherwise, don't hunt out any particular sports but can easily get into anything that's competitive and has high stakes. Baseball American Football Basketball Soccer ( ) I also play golf, ski, cycle, etc. But don't "follow" any particular athlete from those. All of my teams are based in Ohio, more or less. Winnersaint Posted 7 February, 2012 Share Posted 7 February, 2012 Obviously football. Besides Saints I look out for Athletic Bilbao in Spain and Panathinaikos in Greece. Cycling. Love doing it. Watch long hours on Eurosport/ITV4 especially the Grand Tours but also the Spring Classics. Would love to watch the TdF for real but the interesting bits are in term time so will have to look upon that as a retirement activity. I know it has a dodgy reputation as a sport but at its best it is sheer drama of the highest order. Hanker towards favouring Sky Pro Cycling. Rate Cavendish very highly and would love to see a Brit win the tour, giro or vuelta. Step forward Bradley Wiggins????
