Have been checking the weather before I leave and will do tonight and tomorrow before I go and have seen that there is a Large part of snow that will be

in and around Birmingham at the time that Saints are playing and am just seeing that can the referee abandon the game at half time if the game gets really

Bad and that the visibility is quite high as well as I would be P**** off if that happens!?!

Thanks!

To answer the question (?) I think was being asked, the referee can abandon the match at any point.

Can't remember whether there's still a rule about completing 75 minutes for the result to stand or anything like that, but some competitions have that. Not half time though, that would be a rearrangement of all 90 minutes.

"if the game gets really bad"??

I don't think so, but it would be a terrible rule if he could - Hansen and Lawrenson droning on for hours discussing whether it was or was not actually bad enough to call it off. And we would still be trying to complete our fixtures for the Branfoot seasons.

Just wear a high visibility jacket, and you'll be fine. Don't worry about it.

As for the ref calling it off, I remember away games at Leicester (c1986) called off at 20 minutes due to a monsoon at 0-0. Also, and more annoying, away to Forest due to fog in the 70's. Saints were winning 1or2-0 at the time after about 70minutes and Forest looked hopeless. By the timeof the rematch Forest had picked up form and beat us easily , 3-0 from memory.

I was at the Leicester game that got abandoned. We were given a voucher for free admittance to the re-arranged fixture but i didn't bother. Good day at though:)

Nope f the game starts, no refund. You can write to the club, and the club are reasonable about these sorts of things.

Also all matches are replayed if abandoned after 1 minute or 89 minutes, unless compitition rules state differently.

I the football league all matches are replayed, and if you are Portsmouth FC you never get points deducted, and you can pretty much do what you like.

Leicester game was 83/84. Had we won it, and we were the form team at the time, we would have gone top. When it was played we lost 2-1, arguably the game being abandoned cost us the championship.

The Forest game was in 76/77. We lead from the start with a Holmes goal but its abandoned just after half-time. That changed the whole course of football history. Forest won the replay 2-1. Without that win they wouldn't have got promoted, wouldn't have been champions in 78 and wouldn't have won the European Cup in 79 and 80.

I was at the Leicester game as well, the rain was so heavy and the ground so wet that the ball would'nt go anywhere and player kept theatrically ( but not deliberately!) falling down. The crowd sarted laughing and the laughter continued until the ref ended it. I met David Armstong later and he said it was one of the featured games on MoTD that night & he'd seen it & thought it was really funny. But then Lawrie Mac had gone for a quick tuesday night replay of the game to get the fixture out the way. Everyone else at Saints was against this because of fixture pile up (or something) anyway we did the hasty replay and lost - 2 to 1 I think. Again, just recall, but I think a young defender - tall lad - made his debut that night but don't recall him ever playing again.

Yes - sorry didnt see this. Also I think that season we lost at home to Notts County towards the end of the season - another priceless 3 points! But the scenes at the end of the 3-1 away win at Notts County were allmost as good as if we'd fiished top!
