I hope it's off, but called off before people travel.

They are the in form team in the league, we're a bit so-so. Would rather play this when Chappers and Jos are back, Sharpe is fully intergrated and we're back on form.

False reasoning. We could be unlucky and suffer another plague of injuries and suspensions -- and have, say, Lambert, Lee, Sharp, Fonte and Lallana all out for the rearranged game.

Let's beat Brum in a blizzard.

Who said you can't play in a bit of snow ?

Them were the days, proper players....

Also remember an MLT hat-trick in a blizzard v Leicester c1987 at The Dell

Wooaahh -time travel or what?!!!

That was my first ever away match. Relentless pressure and then Hughie Fisher nearly nicked a winner (not shown).

Eric Martin's game of his life wearing thin cotton gloves, soaking wet.

Orange ball and blue lines.

I had no idea that film of that game existed!!

I remember it like yesterday.

Brilliant.

Bloody hell we we're under the cosh!

Players have lost the art of playing in snow, and also any other condition that is not perfect.

What a great attacking games of football that was by Arsenal.

Sign that keeper up, no gloves, no padded top, in heavy snow making save after save!

Ah, Michael Fish in the late-eighties.

Much better than the technology-laden crap we see today, and just as accurate.

I suspect that picture was Michael Fish in the seventies, they were already on the computers by the late 80s (see the "there's not going to be a hurricane" videos from 1987 for proof).

Great footage. How they played in those conditions I'll never know. Were footballing rules different back then? Were our outfield players not allowed to touch the ball?

Absolutely brilliant. Almost deserves thread on its own to discuss. My first away game was Sheffield we'd boxing day 68 or 69.we slipped and slides to the ground and missed half the game cos you could not see one goal through the snow storm. That's why I get frustrated by postponements. It's far too soft a game now

Yes it must be great fun watching half a game of football. Well worth the £25.

Currently -8 C in Coventry. Their under soil heating better be top draw.

My Brummie mate reckons it's pretty good and that they're desperate for the income so will go all out to get it played - he's worried that Zigic's £50k per week is killing them and wishes he had gone...who doesn't that remind you of?

Haha. 1/6d actually. And when you're 10 there are funny things that stick in your memory. Perhaps a slight exaggeration - but I do remember the ball occassionally disappearing in the storm at the other end. Thought the ref might call it off but no one else really seemed to be othered about that.

BBC now predicting heavy snow in birmingham from 3pm onwards. A bit earlier than they were originally forecasting IIRC

snow isn't really a problem though is it, if the pitch heating is on it will just melt.As for the surrounding area, well walking in snow isn't a great problem, unless of course you're in Jesus boots,it's when it gets all slushed up by cars, trucks and people and then ices over again.
