St Chalet Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 I have stuck a poll on this for the next hour or so. Wanabee weather forecasters make your mind up now.
sentry Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Im in brum, bout 3 miles from the blues ground and its just started to snow, settling a little but looks light.
Saint Garrett Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Light snow but if it carries on as it is it'll be off I think.
St Chalet Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 From the BBC radar it looks like the heavy stuff hits around 5pm.
trousers Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 You really are a bunch of fannies. That's one way of keeping warm
Saint_clark Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 What a waste of a day if it gets called off.
S-Clarke Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 This will be a real nightmare for the authorities, it's not so much a case of the game starting, as that should be ok - but it's more the getting away from the ground at FT, when it will have dropped below freezing again and I'd guess all the exterior paths will have iced over from the earlier snow. Health and Safety guys these days would be very nervous in those circumstances.
View From The Top Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 We've just decided not to travel the 30miles south. Far too much snow already here and still falling heavily. Sky it is then.
Tamesaint Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 We've just decided not to travel the 30miles south. Far too much snow already here and still falling heavily. Sky it is then. Interesting. I am 60 miles south of Brum and need to decide in the next 20 mins whether to go or not. No snow here yet but we will get what you are having.
dune Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 We've just decided not to travel the 30miles south. Far too much snow already here and still falling heavily. Sky it is then. I was umming and arring after my win at the bookies, but you've just decided it. Should be ok on the motorways, but living in the sticks they run out before home.
dune Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Is that global warming moving accross the country?
Saint Charlie Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Pitch fine on Sky now due to undersoil heating.
revolution saint Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Don't see this being called off. If it was the surrounding area then they'd have done so already, likewise with the pitch. So it's just the amount of snow on the pitch and given that it's got undersoil heating and probably covered then that shouldn't be a problem either.
Saint Garrett Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 I'm in centre Bham and its now stopped, confident it will now go ahead,
trousers Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Ivan Gaskell (BBC reporter at Britannia Stadium) reckons there's a fair chance the Stoke game won't make it to the end due to the heavy snow...
Saint Charlie Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Depends if there is undersoil heating really, which there is at St Andrews.
TK8267 Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 looking behind Robbie Fowler on SSN it looks virtually like a blizzard
View From The Top Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Ivan Gaskell (BBC reporter at Britannia Stadium) reckons there's a fair chance the Stoke game won't make it to the end due to the heavy snow... I'm 14miles south of the Britannia and it's a blizzard.
saint cozza Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Snowing pretty hard and settling in Coventry now.
DrunkenSaint Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 It's not about if it can go ahead it's all about if it's safe for the fans to travel there and back which determines if games go ahead. Imo we would be better off calling it off, Chappers, Lee amd Sharp will all be settled down or fit for the rearranged game. They have also made it a Red Warning on the met and expect very heavy snow for the next 4+ hours.
CanadaSaint Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 It's not about if it can go ahead it's all about if it's safe for the fans to travel there and back which determines if games go ahead. The window is rapidly shrinking for making that call because a lot of the travellers, home and away, are already travelling.
trousers Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 BBC: "weather getting worse at Stoke and WBA"
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Hopefully it will, but it must only go ahead if everyone will be safe before and after the game..
hasper57saint Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 It's still snowing (1540) over here in Shropshire and dosen't look like slowing down at the mo'. Already 4 - 6 inches deep. I'll be watching Sky. (We're still going to win handsomely!)
Saint Charlie Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 @solentsportPitch fine at st Andrews - staff say only concern is fans areas - snow steady at 3:41pm #saintsfc http://t.co/CLoq6BxN
Gingeletiss Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Snowing quite heavy at the West Brom game
Ziggy Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 It is getting worse. Traffic very slow in Birmingham.
Buster Cornelius Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 In a pub 2 miles south of St Andrews. Snowing but no big deal. game will go ahead...
Saint Charlie Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Surely needs a quick decision. No point calling if off once everyone has bothered to get to the ground. Want it to go ahead but might be better for the team to postpone and play when in better form, Jos and Chappers back and Lee and Sharp settled.
Saint_clark Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Surely needs a quick decision. No point calling if off once everyone has bothered to get to the ground. Want it to go ahead but might be better for the team to postpone and play when in better form, Jos and Chappers back and Lee and Sharp settled. That's what I was thinking. If the concern is the safety of fans travelling to and from the game, then they would have had to call it off early otherwise people would be making the trip anyway - just without football in between.
Leicestersaint Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 What a lot of fussing! What is wrong with this country (and most people in it)??
CanadaSaint Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 What a lot of fussing! What is wrong with this country (and most people in it)?? Indeed. Perhaps you should just let us have our Winter back. We haven't seen snow for ages and it has been so mild (touching wood and whistling).
Dr Who? Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Snow ****ing watch..... I live the volcano map of the uk.
View From The Top Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Not snowing yet in the east mids. Proper blizzard in Staffordshire, Couple of inches already and heading your way.
dune Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Proper blizzard in Staffordshire, Couple of inches already and heading your way. Kewl. Love the snow.
ericofarabia Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Just popped outside - a bit nippy 16c ish - no sign of snow - cricket should be ok tomorrow (assuming we haven't been beaten already!!)
Alain Perrin Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 I'm outside the ground. -16, next to no visibility and the snow is waist high... but they've dug out the turnstiles. Game on! Posted on my Iphone using crapatalk.
dune Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Match report from the Hawthorns saying heavy snow. Our match is very dodgy due to visibility.
ludgershallsaint Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Match report from the Hawthorns saying heavy snow. Our match is very dodgy due to visibility. Just seen the ground on SNN. Doesn't look great.
supergoose Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Just seen the ground on SNN. Doesn't look great. That's all very well but what about the weather?
dubai_phil Posted 4 February, 2012 Posted 4 February, 2012 Just popped outside - a bit nippy 16c ish - no sign of snow - cricket should be ok tomorrow (assuming we haven't been beaten already!!)
