S-Clarke Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 Just keep an eye on the forecasts, should firm up tonight into tomorrow morning. Can't tell either way at the mo, possibility is increasing of sig. snow though.
Saint Garrett Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 According to the Brummie on here, they've got undersoil heating, so unless its really really bad, then yes it should go ahead, wrap up warm though, going to be baltic !!!
This Charming Man Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 The one good thing is it's on Sky, so they'll stand to lose even more money if it doesn't go ahead. They have undersoil heating and plenty of warning to get the pitch covered and imagine their concern about safety around the ground will diminish when Sky pressure the game to go ahead. It's not always about the pitch itself, IIRC we had a match postponed fairly recently due to the surrounding area of the stadium being dangerous. The Cat Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 It's not always about the pitch itself, IIRC we had a match postponed fairly recently due to the surrounding area of the stadium being dangerous. Considering St Andrews is in Small Heath then shouldn't all their home games be postponed?
DrunkenSaint Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 It wont go ahead imo. too much snow is forecast for around that region and even we're gonna get hit, travelling is going to be crazy from tonight.

Saintmike666 Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 Live in Stafford, about 25miles north of Brum. Very cold here, -6 last night, -1 day time high today, similar temps expected for tonight and tomo, with snow forecast for tomorrow afternoon and evening. Personally feel it will go ahead, because as others have alluded too, Brum stand to lose a lot of Sky tv money. But if travelling all the way from Southampton, I'd certainly keep a close eye on the OS. Not so bad for me having a 40min drive down the M6! dune Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 Thankfully it's not an evening kick off. Would be screwed otherwise. Ah, I see it's a 1720 k/o. I assumed it was 1500. In that case it's in doubt as heavy snow is forecast around 1700 and once it starts it's forecast to keep snowing heavily until the early hours.. JRM Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 Surrounding areas were the reason. We can't be trusted to walk around these days by the authorities... i was there for the game v Newcastle that was called off due to snow, same weekend we were supposed to be at Walsall, the snow was very heavy covered the car park and the surrounding streets, was only called off a couple of hours before kick off, anything like that again and it will be the same. i reckon it will be ok though. Ken Tone Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 You must be looking at different forecasts to me. I'd heard west midlands -- snow in afternoon, turning to rain. Trouble is in recent years they've "cried wolf" over weather warnings ,so you never know how serious they are. Ah, I see it's a 1720 k/o. I assumed it was 1500. jamesfp1 Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 BBC Weather for Brum Saturday A dry, bright and cold start. Clouding over with snow spreading to most places in the afternoon, perhaps turning to rain in the west later. Some significant accumulations possible. Trouble is in recent years they've "cried wolf" over weather warnings ,so you never know how serious they are. Just checked the met office site and they forecast the snow to arrive earlier and for it to be HEAVY snow before k/o and throughout the match into the evening. Window Cleaner Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 Game being postponed wouldn't be the end of the world as far as I'm concerned. We're still convalescent and Birmingham are on a roll so another couple of weeks wouldn't be bad. Dr Who? Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 I think the game being off could benefit us, Brum are on a fantastic run. We can get chappers back, gel in a few players and get going for the following and Saturday and Tuesday games. I think we will lose heavily if we play them tomorrow. I am doing a snow dance as I type this.... Which is hard on the iPad!

Ken Tone Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 (edited) Not sure this table wlil post in full ...forecast for St Andrews at hourly intervals from 4pm. So basically, 30% chance of it starting to snow during the game. Surely unlikely to be called off, especially since it is on Sky? Might be a bit hairy driving home I suppose, but I think it is fporecast to be less snowy as you come closer to home. Matthew Le God Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 They have no money - I wouldn't be surprised if they don't use it. It would cost them more not to use it as they'd lose out on the Sky money plus lost matchday revenue and costs they'd have to repeat. In any case it is hardly a huge expense, they have had the undersoil heating on at their training ground during the week (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16864714) so of course they will at the stadium.
