Did this a good few years ago on here and it seemed to be received well so thought as time has past, it maybe worth doing again:

The idea of the thread (and let's try and keep it Lounge based rather than sliding into Muppet Show territory) is to give a general idea of what you do for a living. A kind of network should anyone require anything. I for one would be happier employing the services of a fellow Saints fan and if we can help each other out in these times of economic downturn it is only a good thing right?

So, please let us know what you do and hopefully we can generate a bit of business for each other or when certain advice is needed, know who to turn to to seek help.

I'm a mortgage and protection broker by the way. I have whole of market access and access to exclusive rates you wouldn't be able to get on the high street. Happy to assist if anyone's mortgage rate has or is due to expire or if you are looking to borrow extra money, add or remove someone from your

Mortgage or wish to move home.

Likewise if you are looking for protection like life cover, critical illness or income protection then I can help there too. Please feel free to PM me or email greystonesben@yahoo.co.uk and i'd be happy to assist.

Ben

Think the concept of the thread has flown over your head.

How many threads do you see saying things like "anyone know a good plumber/accountant/solicitor/mechanic etc? This can just be one central directory of jobs. As mentioned it was pretty well received when I did its couple of years ago so thought I would do it again as no doubt people would have changed jobs.

If it gains me business great, if not no problem but if it helps put people in touch with who they want to speak with (plumber/mechanic/builder etc) easily then surely that's not a bad thing?

Why be cynical about it?

I'm bugger all use to anybody, but I'm looking for both landscape gardeners and someone to lay me a driveway in about 6 months. Oh...and need to be in commuting distance of the Gold Coast too :)

Well I will take this seriously - I know a carpet fitter based in Eastleigh. He used to be a mod

on here called St Landrew. I have his e-mail address but won't post it before I ask him if it is ok.

Ok I have an update and I was a bit wrong but here is the real info.

"I'm actually a Floor Layer and carpets are the among the things I do. I have never lived in Eastleigh..!

Apart from that, I worked on/off for 20 years in IT, and 5 years in retail, as a Store Manager"

In my spare time I advise small companies on how to develop Route to Market Strategies in the greater Middle East, if they operate in advanced IT Security we put them into the product portfolio of the Asset Management Business I help run down here.

On a serious note... How do you explain that when people ask you your area of work?

"Oh me? I work in lubricaation. Highly satisfying job indeed."

I either dodge it, 'I work in the oil business,' or make a joke with it, 'I'm a lubrication expert......'

Depends on the company. :)

I work in the ticket offices of the Heathrow group of the Piccadilly Line on't Tube.

Which means I'm not much help to anyone, although I can get you all the Oyster wallets you want, and can resolve journeys on an Oyster card. (Which I'm not supposed to do...) I'd like to say I could help you lot out with future Tube closures etc but I usually can't be arsed to find out what's happening until I get to work on the day of said closures. I do, however, give good customer service, so if you ever want to meet a polite Tube worker, see me. (Unless I'm tired, cranky, not getting any, fed up, already been yelled at by a customer, already been yelled at by management, already been yelled at by my missus, too hot, too cold, or can't be arsed.)

I've been a PFI Project Manager, a Procurement Manager and a Capital Projects auditor (oh and a dancer many moons ago).

But I'm retired now so not much use to anyone apart from my daughters when I look after their children two days a week.

Looking good so far guys, a lot of people have contributed already. Please feel free to add more and I will update the list every couple of days.

MODS: can we make this a sticky please for easy reference if people need anything? I'm sure there will be more people adding to this in time as well...

If anyone is working in a particular sector and is spotting a gap in the software market, I'm all ears.

Always money to be made from being first-to-market, and I would cut you in of course.

Would the OP care to explain why Dibden Purlieu Saint's secondary profession as a Ninja is not listed in the original post?

I believe many would benefit from the services of a Ninja, ranging from people looking for an assassin to racy parents looking for an unconventional children's entertainer (throw the shuriken at the Samurai/next-door neighbour, etc).

The omission of such a valuable skillset is, pardon my French, a bit out of order.

I can offer 1:1 support to people with mobility problems or/and a disability.

Having moved to Kent now, I'm a bit far for most swf subscribers regarding regular work but for one off events or weekends away I can work on a 'day rate' with or without transport.

If your requirements include personal care or if you prefer female support then I can also help in that area.

Almost 9 years previous experience working for Social Services. References available on request, full CRB clearance and insured for 'public liabilty'.

Weekends at good, accessible hotels in Deal, Kent including door to door transport and flexible itinery a speciality.
