Saint Garrett Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 One of my friends works for Casterbridge Tours who organise tours for educational visits. There are 37 of them (students) and they're coming South Africa and have asked specifically to go to watch Southampton. She said she spoke to the Ticket Office today and they said they couldn't offer her the group tickets. Is there a problem with big groups going to St Marys? I guess it maybe because of the fact it would probably sell out regardless? I would have thought they would have been welcomed to the stadium with open arms. Does anyone have any email addresses specifically for the ticket office where she can contact and try and sort this out? Just curious about why they have turned this down and whether it may have just been the fact that she spoke to the wrong person? Random one I know, but if anyone can help I know she would be extremely grateful Thanks in advance.
Saint_Jonny Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Surely if they wanted to BUY 37 tickets together the club would have just said yes? Certainly that sort of number of seats available together in one of the corners. Only reason I can think of as to why they said no is if your friend asked or confused the ticket office person into thinking that she wanted the tickets for free. Saint Garrett Posted 2 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Nope, It is to BUY, as she has a budget of £30 per person - £1110. So there is no problem in that.
Saint_Jonny Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Try giving them a ring yourself mate, I can't see any reason why they wouldn't sell a group of tickets. See big groups of people at SMS all the time.
Saint Garrett Posted 2 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 2 February, 2012 I will do if she doesnt have any luck. I could probably even buy them for her on my customer number I would have thought. Just seems to be a bit ridiculous, as thought the club would be encouraging new people to come to the ground...never know they might come back!! Dr Who? Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Perhaps they thought they were after a discount.
Leicestersaint Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 I'm afraid this is yet another example of things not being quite right - like ejecting soemone at half time for having a hip flask! It is not very well managed I fear.

Ken Tone Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 Could it simply be that they want 37 seats together as a group, and there aren't that many free in a block? Or maybe there's a policy designed to prevent large groups of away fans buying seats in the home areas? Since they are not on the database, how could the club know this was a genuine tourist group and not the famous Reading ultras?
boxosponge Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 Perhaps it is because tickets are not yet on sale?
JRM Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 are tickets for this game even on sale yet? that might be why, although i don't think the club are that good at engaging with this type of request, i know a mate of mine had some trouble arranging a stadium tour for his boys team (not all of whom were saints fans) but an excellent opportunity to get the kids interested. Reading have only got about 12 ultras, and that's their average age too.

If I was a neutral coming from a foreign country, we'd be quite low down on the must do list.
shurlock Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 F**king ridiculous - 37 paying punters who've decided they want to watch us - should be welcomed with open arms.

Ive absolutely no idea, she just asked me why there would be a problem, They'll be based near Salisbury I think so I guess it's the nearest team worth watching. I've told herr to try the ticket office again as she might have just spoke to the wrong person, and also said to email ticket@saintsfc.co.uk, so she might have some luck. Also said when I spoke her today that they've got tickets reserved and Birmingham now instead. Shame really.

Not a jobsworth, I'm just a reasonable chap who does a little research before jumping on the 'moan at anything and everything the club do bandwagon'... *winkey smiley face thing*

P**s around with £3 booking fees rather than make money out of the things people would be happy to pay for.
Saint Garrett Posted 3 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 3 February, 2012 saint garrett 2 here !!... the last time I emailed the ticket office I got a (good) reply within a couple of hours - why not try that for a considered response.
stardustonmyfeet Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 The club are dropping the ball by missing opportunities like these. I went to The Dell for a mate's 10th birthday as someone who previously had no interest in following a football team. Sat in the dressing room at Neil Shipperley's place. I might not have heard of him then (Tour guide: "Have you ever heard of him?" Me: "No." Cue awkward moment) but I certainly knew who the team were by the end of the day. Ewell Posted 4 February, 2012 Share Posted 4 February, 2012 Also said when I spoke her today that they've got tickets reserved and Birmingham now instead. Shame really. That is a real shame mate. The ticket office has been awful since David Luker left. He would have been all over this post and invited you to contact him and no doubt you would have been sorted out. Lets be honest it is likely we will have 2-3 thousand empty seats for this one anyway.
