Crazy Diamond Posted 2 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 2 February, 2012 (edited) Ermmmm? Just an image of a headline or just Firefox? Hmm, yeah I'm getting the same now. Hang on a minute... Fixed. Turns out each bit of the paper is a separate image and I only linked to the headline. Oops. Edited 2 February, 2012 by Crazy Diamond
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Did our fans really throw dirt at the players? Then again I suppose that was the pre-internet alternative to Dalek/Alpine/Dune inspired bullsheet .
SNSUN Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 'Blackburn - Buying players does not buy a team and no matter how many of Jack Walker's millions Dalglish spends, money alone will not buy him a blend on the field.' SHortly after they were celebrating the title because of those millions. Man City and Chelsea since will also thank the millions. Predictions are tricky though. Dixon and Speedie. lol
Colinjb Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 They really got Norwich badly wrong. And Forest/Boro. Things really were much less predicatable back then.
JRM Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Did our fans really throw dirt at the players? Then again I suppose that was the pre-internet alternative to Dalek/Alpine/Dune inspired bullsheet . in those days fans invade the pitch last home game of the season, the players re-appeared in the upper west directors box and some of the fans throw bits if the pitch at them - not really in protest though from my memory

Yup that's how i remember it too, and as people have said the end of season pitch invasion was a good tradition
Chorlton Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Ruddock in particular was loving throwing the turf back at everyone. It may even have been that day he stood on the ledge of the Upper West Stand in his underpants. You can keep that image.
Chin Strain Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Did our fans really throw dirt at the players? Then again I suppose that was the pre-internet alternative to Dalek/Alpine/Dune inspired bullsheet . Yep, it was great. We were on the pitch and they were in the directors box. TBH it was all good humoured, and most were throwing it back....then the club got arsey
Dalek2003 Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Well, whatever you may think Branfoot kept us up and did a better job than he is given credit for.
IFHP Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Well, whatever you may think Branfoot kept us up and did a better job than he is given credit for. No Branfoot was ****ing ****, Hoddle should have been appointed player manager.
revolution saint Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Well, whatever you may think Branfoot kept us up and did a better job than he is given credit for. I think you really need to compare him against Chris Nicholl - they had similar constraints and spending limits (and for a fair while the same players). Under Nicholl we never finished lower than 12th, under Branfoot we ceased to be entertaining and became relegation strugglers. Admittedly it may not have been all Branfoot's fault but the rot started there and the football wasn't worth watching.

I seem to remember it being a bit of fun that the press twisted around.....surprise surprise. Indeed it was a bit of fun although a bit stupid to start ripping the pitch up and yes the players even got involved. If I remember correct because of that it was the last year it was allowed. It was a relief just to end that season, was devastated with shearer leaving and even then thought it was too cheap, but then we seemed to have a policy of letting our best go to cheaply. JRM Posted 3 February, 2012 Share Posted 3 February, 2012 Don't think you're right on any of those points there. Branfoot season 91-92 - league form was poor, but can't complain abou the Cup - ZDS final and the FA Cup 1/4 finals losing in a replay to Norwich. Can't beat Chris Nicholl 1989-90 season. 90-91 was poor though.
