st_tommy Posted 1 February, 2012 Share Posted 1 February, 2012 After 28 games we had 46 points. This season we've got 51, so we're 5 points better off. However apart from losing at Rochdale and Walsall and drawing at Peterborough we won every game and got a whopping 46 points from the last 18 games giving us 92, 5 ahead of Hudds in 3rd - so 2 points per game exactly over the season but 2.55 per game for the last 18. We're ahead of where we were last season but can we expect such a storming finish again or will we need one?
S-Clarke Posted 1 February, 2012 Share Posted 1 February, 2012 What we need at the mo is a run of wins back to back to get us going. We're stuttering along at the moment results wise, and that 11 point gap to 7th is now down to 6 - and everyone is closing up on us. Our away fixtures coming up look tough, Boro away, WHU away, Brum away, Leeds away, Hull away, Palace away...etc. Not an easy run it, so I cannot see us getting the same head of steam as last year, it'll be very very difficult anyway. I think 90 odd pts for 1st, and around 80-85 for 2nd IMO, based on a few things I've looked at this morning. I'd love to be proven wrong though! Let's just be in the mix come the end of April and we'll see how we do.
The9 Posted 1 February, 2012 Share Posted 1 February, 2012 If last night proved nothing else, it's that there's an equality in the Championship that there isn't in most other leagues. Ipswich are 19th, and we've aleady lost at home to Bristol City. We have a load of - on paper - tricky aways, but equally, a load of "easy" homes... Dalek2003 Posted 1 February, 2012 Share Posted 1 February, 2012 I said it last year, that unless we got our finger out on the transfer market we would never make the play offs and would finish mid table.
Alain Perrin Posted 1 February, 2012 Share Posted 1 February, 2012 I said it last year, that unless we got our finger out on the transfer market we would never make the play offs and would finish mid table. Are there 34 teams in the Championship?
Dr Who? Posted 2 February, 2012 Share Posted 2 February, 2012 Unless we get back to winning ways, we will only just scrape a playoff place. We are on a terrible run, and yes somehow still second, but look at some of the teams behind us that are not screwing up. Reading Brum Burnley And even Barnsley. Hull Boro Cardiff are nothing to worry about IMO. I think West Ham maybe a little worried and they are top, as they are playing terrible football and looking really bad. Brum Reading For me to go up top 2 now... West ham will be tough in th play offs though To sum up, I do not have a clue, and this is why football is so great!
