Interested to see he went out on the pitch after the game and shook the hand of most/all of the Saints team

Perhaps he was a bit relieved that Cardiff had been able to withstand our late pressure but it struck me as unusual and a nice courtesy

Didnt think that Cardiff were they good individually but well organised as a unit

Good job Kenny Miller had an off day though

He's a good guy. Spoke very well of us before and after the match, and gave a very fair analysis I thought.

I think their stand out player is Whittingham - but we didn't allow him the space to move the ball around as he usually does, but his delivery is outstanding.

Excellent manager - always enjoy listening to his pre- and post-match interviews. Infinitely better than listening to NA babble cliches. Could learn a lesson or two.

Kenny Miller isn't the tallest players but always causes trouble in the air. Has perfected the art of jumping early not to win the ball but to put the CB off.

But Mackay isn't all sweetness and light about the match, as this report shows:-

Shame that he didn't acknowledge that the referee overlooked the other two claims which were better shouts, or that it is arguable that their goal should not have stood.

We were awarded a penalty for the most dubious out of the three penalty appeals.

Granted, the ball hit their defenders hand but there is no way he could get out of the way.

Lambert's claim in the first-half was a stonewall penalty for me, as was Lallana's in the second.

Add to that the fact that they were awarded a goal for a blatant foul on Kelvin and it kind of evened itself out I suppose.

Erm, not really. By that logic it looks like you're saying we should have got 2 pens with a third turned down, and they shouldn't have been allowed to have their goal stand.....which would make it 2-0 to us. Not quite sure how that evens itself out?

Also said, per the BBC post match report, that they went head to head with our full strength team, at our place, and got a draw.

Er, full strength apart from Chaplow, Jos, Sharp you mean?

Good job too, one of those horrible little footballers who just enjoys getting up everyone's nose, making sure free kicks are delayed by standing on the ball and so on. Got what he deserved, nothing.

True, but a lot of fans from other teams said that about Lee Barnard last season. As unpleasant as it can be sometime, you need a player with a bit of a dirty streak in your team. If you constantly harass and irritate an opposition, they will lose patience and make mistakes. Miller definitely left his shooting boots in Cardiff though, some of his efforts on goal were comical. He should have had a hat trick really.

I watched his post match comments on the beeb and felt he spoke well. Although I did not see the game so can't comment on the pens etc. he naturally made his views with a Cardiff bias, which is to be expected as I'm sure we all tend to view the Saints through a certain tint.

He was measured however in his comments which is far from what you see in many managers and simply said "2 good teams going at it. Good match" or words to that effect.

Not a knob jockey in my opinion and hail him for that.

Should have been sent off within the first ten minutes for any 2 of his 3 statutory yellow card offences - kicked the ball away, then a couple of minutes later stood over the ball to prevent a free-kick being taken, then dissent with the referee. Another example of the crappy reffing from last night, he didn't get a yellow for any of them.
