Living up here among the Brum,Wolves,Villa fans it's easy for me to see that Brum are NOT the team to be scared of. My neighbour (a Blues Fan for almost forty years) says they 'can't perform against a passing team'; they only know brute force and ignorance. That's Huytons style. I'm very positive about this one.Saints will certainly break their home record. Incidentally have you noticed how few they get at their matches? I don't want to predict a score but rest assured Saints will win this one.

What is the bloody obsession with frozen pitches. Someone yesterday was asking if the Cardiff game was in danger ffs. If the air temperature falls below zero during the day - for a prolonged period - there may be a chanceof the ground freezing. Day time temps are well above freezing at the moment and even night time temperatures are rising by the weekend.

Back to football, the form book says Birmingham will win this but one thing that has proved very unreliable this season is the form book. Saints confidence is rising and I predict goals for both Lambert and Sharp on Saturday. 2-0 Saints.

anyone who travelled at their own expense to Charlton last season only for the game to be called off for a frozen pitch moments before kick off will tell you it is something worth thinking about.

I am with you on this, feel strangely confident!

Absolute rubbish. They're a pretty decent side that will give most teams a game, particularly in current form.

Plenty of games called off last season.

Assume you didn't bother to read the weather report on the link he included then before you went off on your ill informed rant?

Agreed. They've been brilliant recently and have been scoring for fun. Scored 8 goals in their last 2 away games and destroyed Millwall 6-0. I really don't fancy us, we struggle massively against teams that work hard and get stuck into us; Doncaster, Bristol City, Leicester...

I'd be over the moon if we came away from there with a point but I can't see it.

True - and no accounting for certain match officials either!

Seeing as this is on Sky and Brum would stand to lose a fair bit of money, I imagine they'd do everything in their power to make sure it was on and a few blades of grass affecting the linesman would be duly ignored.

For me this one looks like the toughest match of the season, Brum are smashing teams all over the place and I'll be happy if we get anything out of it.

On the other hand the team is starting to get back to full strength after all the injuries\suspensions so hopefully we'll give them a cracking game.

Not particularly confident but knowing us we'll probably go up there and win 4-0 now.

Posted
We've got Billy Sharp and Lambert up front. We'll f*cking smash them!!

Saw plenty to be encouraged with last night.

If we'd had Sharp last night I expect we would have won. An awful lot of penalty area ball just went begging.

Posted

I'm confident, despite Birmingham's good run. Should be an open game, and that suits us. Lads should be hungry for 3 points having come so close last night. Time to put this inconsistent run behind us and pick up some much needed wins

Can anyone who has been to St Andrew's before suggest any safe/sensible parking ?

Last time I drove there (which was over 5 years ago) there was plenty of street parking. For a more up to date view see below.

From here: http://www.footballgroundguide.com/birmingham_city/

There is a small car park directly outside the entrance to the away end, but availability of space for cars is determined by how many away coaches are expected as they park in the same car park, which may mean for certain games that there is no space available for cars at all. There is though plenty of street parking off the left hand side of the ring road. Either around the small park at the third island you cross or along the road next to and behind the BP garage before the fourth island. Bear in mind that if you arrive after 1.30pm these areas are likely to be already full. There are some local schools and firms that offer parking facilities for around £5.'

So is Zigic injured for this?

If so this would be a huge boost. Whenever I see Brum play they lump it to Zigic or King. They also have no Ridgewell which is a bonus. With Sharp in the mix and based on that 2nd half performance Im feeling a Saints win. That said I would take a draw now.

Posted
I see Birmingham are the latest team to become Barcelona..we have a habit on this forum of talking up teams before we play them. Yes they are in excellent form, but so were we at various points of the season, and it can go to pot as quickly as it arrives, as we have witnessed. If Zigic is missing that's a big loss, Ridgewell has gone too, although he was awful at SMS. Massive game and I see no reason not to go there in confidence.

Davis

Richardson

Fonte

Martin

Fox

Puncheon

Cork

Hammond

Lallana

Sharp

Lambert

Hopefully this will be the side v Brum...

Once again for all you Morgan luvvers....He is not the answer in this league..

We do not win when he is in the side........Maybe too good for this league....

Sorry...Morgan does not impress me again...

Zigic fell awkwardly scoring his 4th goal, and had to be subbed straight after.

Although there haven't been any reports on if he's injured or not today - so it may have just been a precautionary sub.

Ridiculous comment. He doesn't always deliver, and wasn't on his game yesterday, but he is quality when he's on it.

Agree that in some games we need Hammond in there to do the dirty job, but more often than not Morgan adds that quality passing a good side needs

My comment and I am entitled to an opinion.....

Suggest your comment is ridiclous but would not be so rude as that is your opinion.

For some reason I've got a sneaky feeling we'll win.

No idea why, as on current form it should be a comfortable home win, but it would be so like Saints to snatch victory, followed by another home defeat.

We'll see.

The comment that we don't win when he is in the side IS ridiculous. Not opinion, just plain wrong.

When he is on form, he controls games. First example off the top of my head is Palace. He was outstanding and was one of the main reasons we won the game so comfortably

I have had a good think on the subject.......and he is still not in my side.

This. Pretty sure we also recently beat Forest with Morgan playing. Didn't he score?

Ottery, I wouldn't write someone's opinion off as ridiculous unless it was factually incorrect. To say we never win with Morgan in the side WAS a ridiculous comment

As England play Scotland in the 6 nations at 17:00 on Saturday, it might be worth checking with your local landlord first if you plan on watching this in the pub.

Jonathan Spector picked up his 5th yellow of the season last night against Leeds so he'll be missing for them on Saturday (I think, unless there is a cut off date for 5 yellows suspensions).

Think they reset at the turn of the year

Leicester 2 - 2 Boro tonight (almost FT)

Would have preferred a Leicester win, but Boro were leading...

Finished 2-2. Perfect, I say. Kills any chance of Leicester making automatic promo.

Posted

Can't see either putting up a serious challenge for the top 2. Leicester are too far back and Boro aren't very convincing.

I think the current top 4 will battle it out for the top 2, with the rest of the top 10 for the playoffs, plus Leicester if they can keep a good run going

A couple of highlights:

"I'd take a 1-0 win so long as we beat them. Just got promoted and flying yet still can't fill their stadium - tiny club." (Their average attendance is about 19k)

"The attendances have looked shocking on television. I can also say as a student in Southampton we are constantly bombarded with offers of cheap tickets. I think it's very poor that in a city where you are the only team and have done quite well since being promoted from League 1 that you don't sell out every week" (Would like to know these cheap ticket offers!)

Built up to be a cracking game

Football fans being peppered with a bunch of kn*bbers is hardly news. We're as bad as each other, and most other sides in that respect.

I don't think we should be quite as dismissive of Brum's style of play though. They certainly aren't hoofers and are a much tougher prospect than the team which didn't turn up at St Mary's a few months ago. On the other hand we can give anyone a game with the players we've got. With Lambert, Sharp, Puncheon and Lallana we've got danger all over the park. Plus they wont have a clue what Tadanari is about.

I anticipate a tough but fascinating game, shame I'll be missing it. I'd take a draw, but I really couldn't call it either way.

Posted

Very tough fixture - this will seperate the men from the boys as we need to be in their faces 100% of the time. Hard to call - would take a point. 1-2 Saints. And I would love it for Sharp to get the first and then Lee to get one too to open their accounts for Saints.

Posted

Since November Brum have been on a good run and we've been on a bad one but "runs" tend to be about 2 things, confidence and luck. We've had no luck recently and are due some, and have lacked a bit of confidence due to injuries and Lambo's suspension. The squad is reasonably fit now and with the introduction of Billy and the

fantastic performance in the second half on Tuesday I hope our confidence will be sky high. With luck and the competition for places I fancy us for a win, particularly if

we score first.

Birmingham mocking other teams home support is hilarious, their attendances are very poor. Imagine they saw our terrible crowd against Leicester the other day and that just sticks in their memory. The one memory that has stuck with me is the thousands of empty seats at St. Andrews when they played Villa...

Posted

Decent defense and they like to overlap alot. Burke's their best player -was a cut above at SMS. Take him out of the game and it will improve our chances massively.

Posted
Just a heads up - keep an eye on the weather forecasts towards the w/e, increasing chances of a widespread snow event over the weekend.

The Beeb saying for Birmingham that it won't get above freezing all day and snow in the afternoon.

Posted
Their average attendance is 18,000 and ours is something like 26,000. Need I say more.

One of the most tinpot places I've been to - the recent times I've gone to St. Andrews -2007 and 2009- they've been challenging for honours in the NPC; yet the place was dead. Admittedly, they have to endure the dull shower of sh*t served up by Mcleish for several years but really there are no excuses.
