St Chalet Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 (edited) Good result in the end I think. With WHU getting spanked we retain 2nd with a big game Saturday. Edited 31 January, 2012 by St Chalet
trousers Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 1 point and 4 goals gained on the leaders with Sharp to come in. Could be worse.
Colinjb Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 That second half sounded much more like it. A good night, no element of a missed opportunity with Wham capitulating, that second half sounded stunning and I would have taken a point at the start.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 (edited) Good point! Should have been 3 with more luck!! And i hope Waste Hams 5-1 defeat leaves them shell shocked!!! Edited 31 January, 2012 by SOTONS EAST SIDE
Saint_Jonny Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 oooo errrrr dunno what to think about that! Gutted we couldn't take advantage of WHAM getting absolutely SMASHED (See what I did there?) Brum on Saturday will only be tougher than today.
View From The Top Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 2nd half sounded as if we'd got our mojo back!
Lazlo78 Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Excactly the kind of response I was looking for - all we needed was a winner to make the evening perfect. West Ham losing, Cardiff not winning and the team visibly gaining confidence will be the major takeaway... Now I need to lie down and get my pulse back to normal - phew!...
Sheaf Saint Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Would have taken a draw at half time, but given the frantic ending it's disappointing we couldn't find a winner. Still top two and still above Cardiff, West Ham getting tonked at Ipswich so not all bad really.
Dalek2003 Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 A very good draw and could have been a win. Brum will be a real test. We are in the mix and so are about 10 teams. What a league. WHAM ?????what happened !
Red Alert Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Unlucky, sounded very promising in the second half. Got to be happy with a point though given the way we have been playing recently. Also West Ham getting battered is no bad thing.
SaintsAhoy Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 We were poor in the first half but sounded like we applied a lot of pressure in the second. Happy(ish) with a point given we conceded first, but disappointing that we couldn't capitalize on West Hams loltastic defeat at Ipswich
Stepgar Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Would have liked to have seen Lee on for connolly and Falque on. Dont recall hearing Connolly's name second half!!
Minty Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 The match - not losing to your promotion rivals is never a *bad* result... shame we couldn't win it but after out last two home games, good to see some fight back. The league - A point gained over West Ham, and only Birmingham gain on us from below. Net result is no real change.
student Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Great result really, not losing it will the team a world of good. With reinforcements to come its looking positive!
Saints Mad Si Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 I class this as a point gained tonight! WHU losing and us down at half time. Well done lads sounds like a good performance second half. Coyr. Keep the faith.
Micky Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Bit p i s s e d off, really could have done with getting the 3 points today - another chance to capitalise on a rivals poor performance missed. But, give that we came from behind, sounded like we had a good second half - guess I'll have to be happy with a point.
DG Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Ok with West Ham losing by so many, two tough games to come. Would have taken a point at the start, it would be typical Saints to draw home and win a difficult away game.
DT Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Good point which in fact saves five off Cardiff (in effect). Sort of. West Ham result is hilarious.
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Well, WHU get a caining, may damage some morale, we come back from going 1 down and from what I was listening too were all over Cardiff. We had 2 pen shouts turned down, didn't lose to one of the most inform Championship teams who scored a goal that could have been a foul. Not a bad show considering we have Sharp to come in. Happy TBH
farawaysaint Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 I was all ready to become Dalek after the first half but I'm happy with that. We won't play a better team than Cardiff for the remainder of the season.
Viking Warrior Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 I was worried about this game but I listening I didnt think we would lose. Its stopped the rot. Cardiff have been playing well. Great result by ipswich . We are in the ascendancy. It sounded like we are on the up. We have now a very strong team they just need to play together to understand each other again Well done saints.
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Bassshhhley vssss Chesssshhhhham Not bothered.
supergoose Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Decent second half. Sharp will make a big difference IMHO.
Dr Who? Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Good point, but fear for Saturday, and this time next week, Cardiff and Brum COULD be above us!!
forever a red and white Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 and breathe..! Thank god. Was very nervous throughout the whole game. Glad we got a point and its another one out the way. Another draw at Brum would be great and WHU gd taken a battering too. Very good point. Connolly sounds so off the pace atm, make way for Billy Sharp and get Barny back on the bench please!
Viking Warrior Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Sharp and Chappers about to return as well. We do have a quality squad
jawillwill Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 I more concerned about Birmingham than I am about West Ham now to be honest... OK result though I suppose. Really need to push on and get back to winning ways again soon though.
CWD Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 We need to get back to the sort of form we had before November. Decent result tonight, but Brum away on saturday is an even tougher test. I still believe we can finish top 2 but improvement needed for sure. Come on Saints
alpine_saint Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Hopefully the 2nd half performance will give the team the shot of confidence they needed. This was always going to be a tough, tough game, and they came through it well. We also gained on the leaders. Saturday probably is a season-defining game. Win against the in-form team of the league and we'll have our mojo back and will be unstoppable. Lose, well, I think we will be looking at the play-offs in that case.
Viking Warrior Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Dr Who can you not travel forward in your tardis and tell us how we will do in the next two game s. If it is going wrong send Dalek ahead and exterminate the opposition
trousers Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 This league is going down to the wire. #tense
Monk Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Feel bit of a **** for being disapointed we didnt win this. At least we didnt loose (obviously) and those tossers at WHU got their arses handed to them.
Viking Warrior Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 I like the commentator comments on a crimianl playing and scoring Lee Hughes
Minsk Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Sharp and Chappers about to return as well. We do have a quality squad This. Plus we sounded much better than last week. We are getting back to how we were earlier in the season.
Dig Dig Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Important not to lose to those around us at the top. Any team in the mix at this stage would take a point against a close rival. Still massively in this and this a really good league, looking forward to the rest of the season come what May.
Viking Warrior Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Its been a bumby road in recent weeks but fresh tarmac has been laid for us for the weeks ahead
Crab Lungs Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 I like the commentator comments on a crimianl playing and scoring Lee Hughes Lol, Adam Blackmore, legend
Lazlo78 Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Looking forwards to seeing the rejected penalty appeals plus the possible free kick on Davis for their goal. In retrospect I could be very disappointed with the draw, if we wuz robbed
Saintjersey Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 A point is alright, was crucial we didn't lose. I am worried about the Brum game though.
Dr Who? Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Dr Who can you not travel forward in your tardis and tell us how we will do in the next two game s. If it is going wrong send Dalek ahead and exterminate the opposition I would say I wish I could but, in a way I like the highs and lows of a game a season and the drama that is football. But maybe a peek!!!
Saintjersey Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Poor old Cov as well, could have done with them holding out against Blackpool.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Disappointed we couldn't nick it at the end.. a big opportunity missed with WHU's result, and the Brummies catching us up. Won't mind so much if we win saturday, but nervous cos of Sky. Was Burnley [3-2] the last time we won on tv? Not sure our blip is over yet
ericofarabia Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Hopefully the 2nd half performance will give the team the shot of confidence they needed. This was always going to be a tough, tough game, and they came through it well. We also gained on the leaders. Saturday probably is a season-defining game. Win against the in-form team of the league and we'll have our mojo back and will be unstoppable. Lose, well, I think we will be looking at the play-offs in that case. Glad to see you being positive tonight - but god forbid anything less than a win at Brum against THE form team of the league can't be viewed as a bad result per se - Donny, Bristol C x 2, Leicester H, were bad results, but a win at Brum would be an amazing result.
dan17 Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Bit annoyed we didnt manage the win and make the most of Wham getting d*cked, but a good point really. SERIOUSLY worried about Brum......
dvaughanwilliams Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Would like to hear from someone who was in the Chapel about the Cardiff goal. From my seat I had a poor view, but the players were clearly unhappy. We had 2 very good penalty shouts turned down, the foul on Rickie Lambert was a hack down from behind and I was apoplectic that the ref didn't give it. With all the pressure in the second half, we didn't deserve to not win that. Puncheon looked good, was working hard for the team and will improve. Tadanari Lee created panic in their defence, constantly looking to make the run in behind and when the players around him are looking to pick out those runs he will be very successful. Lots of positives from the game. Looked a lot closer to the team from the beginning of the season than the past couple of games.
Viking Warrior Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 JOs about a week away. Chaplow close. Good talk from Nigels. Not going to get an aswer out of nigels. Names loas of attacking minding players. Tells me they are all being considered
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 January, 2012 Posted 31 January, 2012 Jesus christ Andy Carroll scores and Alpine being positive. I'm going for a lay down.
