Chris Nicholl's cavalier days

With the recent addition of Billy Sharp to the strike force, could this be a return to the cavalier days of the Nicholl era (not wanting to diss the defenders of course) whereby we might ship goals, but we'll score more than the opposition? Off up to the game on Saturday, so here's hoping, although a clean sheet would be nice.

4-2-4 formation under Nicholl. Case and Cockerill sat behind a forward line of Le Tissier Wallace, Shearer and Rideout.

In answer to your question, no we won't return to this!

We're not that far away from it though really. Although we'll never get a return to the 4-2-4 we had, we still have Cork & Hammond sat behind a forward line of Lallana, Guly, Lambert and Sharp.

Goals galore.

In '89 we scored 4 away at Loftus Rd and the next week 4 at home v Liverpool (even King Kenny admitted that it could have been 8 )

Probably my all-time favourite game in terms of us out-classing the opposition who were, at that time, one of the best in Europe.
