SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 31 January, 2012 Share Posted 31 January, 2012 Sharp/Lee or Lambert/Sharp or maybe Sharp/Guly, or perhaps Sharp/Connolly. What mix sparks excitement in you!
RobM Posted 31 January, 2012 Share Posted 31 January, 2012 I really want to see what Sharp and Lee could do together.
eurosaint Posted 31 January, 2012 Share Posted 31 January, 2012 My guess is that Lambert/Sharp would be the preferred option with Guly somewhere behind them (in the formation!). Lee will most likely be a sub until he familiarises with English football ! Connolly, Barnard and De Ridder (if he is not used on the wing!) will struggle for games except for the cup matches ! All IMHO of course !

All IMHO of course ! I don't think you're far wrong... I see DC's chances being very limited, even as a sub, Barnard I wouldn't be surprised to see go out on loan to a L1 club for regular games. De Ridder will be a regular on the bench for league games, as his strength and pace is a superb weapon for late on in games. Lee needs time and games, but will hopefully be one of three regular starters up front, alternating as NA sees fit. With only five subs allowed, once you've got Bart, De Ridder and a defensive option do you really want two strikers? I can't see why we would have Lee and DC on the bench if Lambert and Sharp start, I certainly don't see why we would have DC over Lee. bpsaint Posted 31 January, 2012 Share Posted 31 January, 2012 If we really wanted to go all out attack we could play Sharp and Guly up top, with Rickie sat just behind them. 3 of the top championship goal scorers in the same forward line up, defenders would be ****ting it! Brussels Saint Posted 31 January, 2012 Share Posted 31 January, 2012 Lee for me is probably the most similar to Lambert as he is fairly tall and essentially plays as a loan striker for Japan and as such can effectively act as the target man. If this does turn out to be correct (and please feel free to do so if your understanding is different), it's good news as we have not had an effective Lambert replacement. I think essentially we will see Lambert & Sharp as the main paring with Lee & Guly putting pressure on them and replacing any dip in form. Connolly & Barnard only squad players for me now and IMO will be gonein the summer.

SNSUN Posted 31 January, 2012 Share Posted 31 January, 2012 As Rickie gets older, a few years I'm talking here, I can see him sinking into a deeper role, a la Mark Hughes when he was with us. At the moment, the pairing has to be Lambert and Sharp, but I haven't seen anything of Lee to suggest he'd be a better partner for either. Put quite simply, I'm glad Nigel has this dilemma, and not me.
