Lambert?!

Sounds ridiculous at first glance, but there is this little voice at the back of my head wondering what NC and NA did to attract Sharp when he turned down Leicester, and more to the point, WHY they suddenly did it.........

Voices in your head are a bad sign Alps! ;)

It will be Vaz Te from Barnsley.

tweet looks like he means a top scorer and not the top scorer in championship.

Exactly. The original tweet says "top scorer from championship" not 'THE top scorer from championship', which means it could be any of about ten players, including Henderson, McCormack, Vaz Te, and Snodgrass.

Irrespective of the validity of the tweet in question, I think people are fooling themselves if they believe that Lambert will never go anywhere. My personal hope is that he finishes his career with Saints and becomes forever associated with his success here, but other clubs will be taking a look at him, 29 or not. And why not? Top scorer in each division he has played in, effortlessly made the step up to NPC.

If we get through today with Lambert still in the team, I will be a very happy man. This is my expectation, but lets not kid ourselves into believing that deadline day madness doesn't occur. The one really positive thing I hear locally (Liverpool) is that Kenny is not looking to do any further business.

It's Vaz Te they're after. And that Morrison from Man Utd. The kid who at 18/19 asked for over £30k a week despite never playing a first team game. Also refused to play for U18s as he feels he is "too good" and asked to leave after they re-signed Scholes (arguably the best English player in last 15 years)

I can confirm from a close source to Rickie that an offer came in from QPR for him, however both club and player rejected immediately, Rickie is settling in for the long haul down here and is even starting to think about life after football as he is slowly beginning to own multiple houses in the area to rent/sell on, looks like he will be with us for a long time to come!

Should put him on the same medication as Puncheon .... seems to have worked on him.

If Kenny was in a mind to buy, Lambert would tick all sorts of boxes for the current Liverpool set-up. He's British, scores goals, and would probably be available for less than 35M :)
By that token he probably ticks lots of boxes for many PL clubs who, just like Liverpool, are not going to be doing any more business this window. The fact is, I cannot see any PL clubs taking a punt on Lambert except those at the lower end in trouble - and he won't be going to them having just signed a new contract when those clubs may not even be in the PL next season.

I agree - although owning and renting houses in the area doesn't mean much. I owned and rented houses in Stoke having never lived anywhere but Southampton (or just north of).

Not sure I agree entirely, but I hope you're right.

My general point is that people are treating this as an impossibility for emotive reasons.

really no need is there? Considering your 'alpine is being bullied' thread

if anyone is an attention gimp it's you, you complete ****

Lambert is going nowhere. Go and support pompey if you enjoy misery so much

Ah, the old "go and support...." cliche. How original.

Tell me, when did Rickie tell you he wasnt going anywhere, or is that your opinion only ?

Dont shoot the messenger, I do not know how reliable this is or even if it is wind up. If someone who has Twitter could validate it, it would be appreciated...

One of my mates on the book of Face has just posted that he has seen a Tweet from the Son of the West Ham owers that claims they are signing the championship top scorer tomorrow!?

I am right in thinking that is Lambert isnt it? I am hoping there is another Championship and this Tweet if true is referring to a Championship in another country or is just a made up Tweet.

Like I said, I have no clue if this is true and would appreciate if someone can check it out if they have Twitter, maybe 'Tweet' the person back to do some digging? I am sure we wouldnt having just signed a top striker let Lambert go and I am sure it is a wind up or mix up but still thought I would share...

God there are a lot of b!tches on here!

Like I initially said, I didnt know how reliable the initial information was or even if it was a wind up.

As I do not have twitter I was merely asking if someone could verify the information I had seen. As pointed out by a couple of the 'kinder' posts, the information I had seen about 'THE Championship top scorer' was wrong and the tweet was 'A Championship top scorer'. That is enough for me to realise it isnt Lambert as it could be a number of people!

I too thought there was/is no way we would let Lambert go but was interested to see what this was about. Regardless of who WHU were/are after it is also interesting to see who our rivals are buying so the thread has served other purposes too.

But there is no need for all the face palms and cries of 'the messenger should be shot'. Did I anywhere say we are selling Lambert? Some people on here feel they have to post just for the hell of it and make no real contribution to threads at all.

I saw a bit of information which (albeit was wrong) said 'THE top scorer' and knowing it was Lambert, wanted someone who had the tools to investigate.

Rant over.

Sounds believable. You know how much it was out of interest?

I've got an idea, it's outrageous but it might just work: why don't we wait until 11pm tonight and find out?

will probably only have to wait until team sheet tonight. If he is 'injured' again, it may mean something is afoot. If plays, I suspect he's here for the short term at least and hopefully longer

Its my opinion, based in logic. You should try it sometime you freak. Tell me when he said he was?

Can someone lock this **** please mods?

£1.9 million Posh are bidding for 2 Crawley Town players. Crawley being ripped apart. Price of success i guess.

For a club of their size, the amount of money they earn from player sales this season will be massive and (if used correctly) could see them build for the future.

Crawley are already minted though, and reinvested every penny of the tubbs deal straight away into Frank Nouble from West Ham.
