any recommendations?

 

only need one to take a sofa from Chandlers Ford to Hedge End and a sofa-bed on the return journey..

 

Don't really want to spend £50 for an hour long job...

Rather than hire the van yourself it may be cheaper to use one of those man and a van people and only pay for the time your using him tather than a days /half days hire cost with someone like Enterprise

My local B&Q do van hire for £13 an hour. You dont need to "prove" you need the van to carry your purchases as it is a seperate arrangement with Hertz.My son went in and hired it and didn't spend a penny in the shop. They just give you a leaflet and you go outside register over the phone and they unlock the van remotely. Stright up, I didn't believe him at first, but a neighbour did the same thing. B&Q dont care as it's a service via Hertz...........
