Minty Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Latest: BBC Solent Sport @solentsport #saintsfc cont....The BBC in Yorkshire have told us that the two clubs have a agreed a fee for the former S****horpe Striker, Moved on a bit since then...
Big_Bald_Si Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 You heard wrong. Terms are agreed. Sauce?
Sour Mash Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Great news a proven championship goalscorer With a top notch attitude, this has got to put us in a great position for promotion Anyone know what went wrong for him at Sheff Utd?
Lets B Avenue Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 I am wondering whether Lee Barnard might be part of the deal, going the other way. Doncaster are going to need a striker to replace Sharp so one of ours might end up there either on loan or part of the deal. Only if he has the dreaded, Willie McKay as his agent. Donny are only buying his clients now. A bit like us in 2005 under Bagpuss.
Big Bad Bob Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 You heard wrong. Terms are agreed. Sauce? Twitter chatter??
Saint_clark Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Anyone know what went wrong for him at Sheff Utd? Too much expectation in a not-very-good team.
Daren W Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 "Sky Sports brought you news earlier of Billy Sharp's medical at Southampton and Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders has now confirmed that the club have agreed a deal to sell the striker." All good!
Badger Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Great - but still worried about the defensive side of things. CB and keeper. Bit greedy perhaps, but yes both needed.
This Charming Man Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Anyone know what went wrong for him at Sheff Utd? Who knows but he's averaging a goal every other game at Donny. For the cut price fee, he's a bargain, IMO.
Avenue Saint Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 If all is finalised, what a window!! So so grateful to cortese and the liebherrs. Remember all those years counting down till the window closes for fear of having our best players picked off at will, now we hope for it to last for hope of star name acquisitions! So pleased right now.
Saint_John Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Leicester signed Delfouneso just before 12pm on the day of the game against us, and he featured on the bench. Assuming we get this deal done by the same time then Shar could play tomorrow? My reading of the FL rules says that we will have to sign him on loan first and then sign him on Transfer Forms after the match. http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20110629/section-6-players_2293633_2125731 40.1 A Registered Player is one who has signed an appropriate registration form or forms and/or contract (such signature to be witnessed by a second person) and whose registration has been approved by The League. No Player may play in any competition organised by The League unless and until his registration has been so approved. ... 40.2 Subject to Regulations 40.4 and 40.5, a Player will only be eligible to play in a match organised by The League if the appropriate forms for his registration or the transfer of his registration (other than those referred to in Regulation 40.3) are received (including by facsimile) and found to be in order by the Executive by 12.00 noon on the day prior to the date of such match. 40.3 Subject to Regulations 40.4 and 40.5, a Player will only be eligible to play in a match organised by The League if the appropriate forms for his Standard Loan, Emergency Loan, Youth Loan or Emergency Loan of a goalkeeper transfer are received (including by facsimile) and found to be in order by the Executive: 40.3.1 in respect of any fixture played on a weekday when the Office is normally open, at least three hours before the match; or 40.3.2 in respect of any other fixture: (a) 12 noon on the day of the match; or (b) at least three hours before the match, whichever is the earlier. ...

Paul Chuckle Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16794210.stm Looks like a done deal reading what Saunders says
Third Division South Days Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Funny old game. Sharp now coming to Saints after failing to agree terms with Leicester. Collins now going to Leicester after failing to agree terms with Saints.(all allegedly)
sussexsaint Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Have heard sharpe is nowhere near agreeing personal terms. We'll see - What on earth would be the point of a medical if the contract was still under discussion
latter day saint Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 this is great news! fingers crossed no hiccups at the last minute. wonder when we will get some news on OS ? no way they'd make us wait till 11 tonight !
OttawaSaint Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 I have 3 kids, two below the age of 10, and a fourth due in May. Typical Saints fan, Alps knows that 3 is never enough...
S-Clarke Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 We'll see - What on earth would be the point of a medical if the contract was still under discussion This. Based up on what Dean Saunders has said, this is complete bar the shouting. He's already talking about reinvesting the fee.
patred44 Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 BBC RADIO SHEFFIELD It is believed that the two clubs have agreed a fee for the striker who now has to agree personal terms. Rovers manager Dean Saunders said: "Obviously I'm disappointed to lose my top scorer and hopefully one day we'll be able to keep our better players. "I wish him all the best, he's been brilliant for the club and for me. We have to move on now and the rest of the players in the squad should see this as an opportunity to step up. "I now have to speak to the chairman to see if any of the money we get can be re-invested into the team."
Avenue Saint Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 We'll see - What on earth would be the point of a medical if the contract was still under discussion Haven't you heard? Hypo apparently in the know nowadays!! Lmao...
The Majestic Channon Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 He seems to enjoy winding up the opposition fans after scoring. Lets hope he plays v the skates and scores at the northam end.
SuperSAINT Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 I know it's been said before, but if the fee really is 1.85m, what a bargain!
Ian the Red Posted 30 January, 2012 Author Posted 30 January, 2012 BBC Solent Sport @solentsport #saintsfc Doncaster boss Dean Saunders quotes re Billy Sharp "Obviously I'm dissapointed to be losing my best player"
Dig Dig Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Haven't you heard? Hypo apparently in the know nowadays!! Lmao... Don't you know he was talking to an ex-player in hospitality?! FFS, get with the program!
Minty Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 wonder when we will get some news on OS ? no way they'd make us wait till 11 tonight ! Sweepstake! I'll go for 16.30.

If it is a cut-price fee, then definitely. Doubt we'll ever know how much he's cost though. Like the sound of a Lambert & Sharp forward line.
Winchester Red Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 We've known what is personal terms are for a bloody long time. Don't think there's anything new to learn there
Winchester Red Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 I thought these things were always announced on Fridays? Oh
Saint Benali Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Have heard sharpe is nowhere near agreeing personal terms. You do realise nobody believes you when you say you know people at the club/radio/executive boxes/KFC right?
hasper57saint Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Anyone recall what I said after the Liecester game about 'Billy Sharp'(no 'e') in the stands.? NA was talking to him at the time! And NO. I won't reveal my source.
S-Clarke Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 James Coppinger, the Donny player, is tweeting good luck messages to sharp now.
Born In The 80s Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 We're still negotiating personal terms. Or at least, personal terms weren't agreed at 2.45pm this afternoon. May have changed since then, but on this occasion the medical has come before agreeing personal terms. Club are still confident (hence the medical), but nothing has been agreed with Sharp yet.

According to Sky, Donny and The Echo it has.
Saint Benali Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Sounds like a done deal if his teammates saying good luck and his manager saying he is gutted to lose him. Great signing for us at the best possible time. Would be great to see a cb brought in too.

Yeah, i don't believe he ever wanted to come here. We wanted him - i have it on good authority that we were even granted permission to speak to the player in december. However, he didn't want to move all the way down to the south coast. Especially with everything that's happened in his personal life. Not surprised in the slightest that's he's going to Leicester. Closer to him than most of the other clubs after him, and they'll pay him more. So you changed sources then?
Micky Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Passes lower than thirty feet? My I larfed....!!!

hypochondriac Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 You're becoming less easy to believe by the minute. Not bothered. I want him to sign, I really hope he does was told via text at 14:29 'hate to p*ss on the parade but sharp isn't anywhere near finalising personal terms'
