Billy Sharp having medical???

This is on par with our signing of Lambert in L1 imo.

A prolific goal scorer at this level who will lift everyone, the fans, the staff and I'm pretty sure the players.

He's available at a cut price fee, but IMO he's amongst the most prolific players at this level and I see no reason why he cannot do it at a higher level. Check out some of his finishes on Youtube, real quality in there.

I'm bloody excited fwiw as a partnership of him and Lambo, on paper, is bloody mouthwatering.

This!

So if we sign Sharp what will all the doom and gloom merchants moan about ? Or will they except its been a good window.

Hooiveld, Falque, Lee, Sharp is a good window, add Puncheon to that and it's been nearly perfect. People say we need a keeper. I don't, not until the summer at least.

Let's hope Sharp signs and starts tomorrow's game, and see what he really has to offer.

If/when this goes through, I think that I'll feel a bit sorry for Donny. While it might be our gain, it will surly really screw Donny. I know that if it wasn't us, it would be someone else and I know that they can try and get someone else in, but....

Wow, sounds like this has legs and teeth this time....

What did we do, smash the wage structure, or did something change for him ?

Maybe after the past traumatic 6months, him and his wife have decided they need a change of scenery.

Trust you to be the first person to mention that, in what was a really nice and upbeat thread. :uhoh:

No worries, I heard that the "train picture" is also a condition of the transfer, going the other way..

Absolutely, although I'll temper your excitement with the words "Phillips" and "Beattie", which was meant to be our last league destroying striking partnership... Nonetheless would be over the proverbial moon with this, as Sharp is the striker I wanted from the off.

Told that Sharp's personal terms were agreed before he set off for Southampton. #saintsfc

Assuming this is true (no reason it wouldn't be), I wonder if Cortese has stepped down from his usual stance a bit, knowing we need to strengthen this position and knowing we have very little time left to do so? If so, well done NC.

Absolutely' date=' although I'll temper your excitement with the words "Phillips" and "Beattie", which was meant to be our last league destroying striking partnership... Nonetheless would be over the proverbial moon with this, as Sharp is the striker I wanted from the off.[/quote']

The difference being that Phillips was signed from a Sunderland team who had just fallen like a stone out of the Prem and he'd only scored 9 goals. Hadn't scored since February when we signed him, so it was always likely to take a while to get his groove back.

Sharp is on form right now (and about 6 years younger I think). Can't wait to see him banging them in with Messrs Rickie, Tadanari, Guly, Adam, Jason, Steve, Richard and Lee.

NO! We didn't sign Hooper, De Bruyne or Shaquiri.

Actually I know exactly what the moan will be. 'We wasted too much time and didn't sign them early enough, we'd be X points clear by now'. 'Should have signed them in the summer', 'should have had it ready to be announced Jan 1st to avoid our poor form' etc. Basically the usual disregard for reality, form, individuals, other clubs and a bizarre belief that football and indeed the world is a simplistic place and they know more than football managers, players and owners.

Quite true, but wouldn't it be boring if ever reply to a new thread was 'I agree'.

What do you mean by that ?

I have 3 kids, two below the age of 10, and a fourth due in May.

I know how devastated I would have been, and how I would need to change a few things in my life.

I dont know Billy, but its an area where I can feel empathy for him.

Sorry to be a baby bore
