Billy Sharp having medical???

Excellent signing if it's true, for $2m considering what we were looking to shell out for Hooper.

Just need a decent CB now to partner and/or cover Jos and Fonte and we should be all set for an auto promotion spot, which I'd more than happily take now considering our recent wobble/lose of form...

Where do our medicals take place, SMS,Staplewood,Soton Uni?

Haven't got a clue! Can't imagine it would be Soton Uni.

Imagine trying to keep a new mega signing under-wraps, and you're walking him through the corridors of a busy university ;)

I know they used to be done at a small medical practice in Romsey, don't think that's the case anymore. May be in house.

I would imagine the earliest we might hear something is early this evening? I'm guessing a medical might take a couple of hrs? then time they have gone over it all and put pen to paper would take us to early evening.

Would be good to get him onboard today so we can spend tomorrow focusing on the game.

I would never have believed at the start of the transfer window that Sharp would be 'second choice' genuinely impressed by this. All the 'stalling points' seem to have coincided with possible breakdowns in Hoipper and his Celtic contract as well which adds slightly more credence to all the rumour.

Now get that Stoke chappie as CB cover and I will be well chuffed with this window

To all those people that said he would not come down here, I put it on record that Saints was his no 1 choice and he would love to sign for us if we agreed his wage demands of 20k a week.

We spoke to him a week before Xmas alongside Maynard but they both wanted too much at the time, this is why it was reported after Xmas Saints are not interested in the pair.

I expect we have finally given up with Hooper and gone with our 2nd choice Sharp.

If you want to give credit to the guy who got Sharp down here then step forward James Beattie.

This deal has fallen through due to personal terms... Leicester are now in for him.

This is on par with our signing of Lambert in L1 imo.

A prolific goal scorer at this level who will lift everyone, the fans, the staff and I'm pretty sure the players.

He's available at a cut price fee, but IMO he's amongst the most prolific players at this level and I see no reason why he cannot do it at a higher level. Check out some of his finishes on Youtube, real quality in there.

I'm bloody excited fwiw as a partnership of him and Lambo, on paper, is bloody mouthwatering.

Just been informed that Billy Sharp is having a medical before signing for Saints.

Will try to get more info, reasonably reliable source.........

This sort of comment always makes me chuckle. You may think your source is reasonably reliable, but is there any reason for us to think that you are reasonably reliable?

A general point, definitely not singling you out.

Good signing if it does happen.

Wonder what we'll be paying him as he apparently turned down an offer from Leicester which was supposed to be around £28k.

I'd imagine our wage offer (which I'd doubt would be £28k) comes backed with a huge payrise should we get promoted. And there's more chance of that happening here than at Leicester.

Twitter rumour that Barnard might be heading in the opposite direction....

As much as I respect Barnard for his efforts last season, I wouldn't be disappointed with this. It might actually help us keep all our remaining strike force motivated too.
